Assistant/Associate Professor - ASNFort Wayne, IndianaFull-timeSummaryThe position of Assistant/Associate Professor for the Associate of Science in Nursing program requires an individual who can provide excellence in teaching, interested in both their students and their subjects. The Assistant / Associate Professor must be committed to the centrality of a Trine University education. Reporting to the Director of Nursing of the ASN program in the Brooks College of Health Professions, the Assistant/Associate Professor should have a broad understanding of appropriate academic programs and potential future directions; be flexible, visionary, creative, and energetic; and want students to excel and take pleasure in their success. Fair discipline, attention to duty, and desire for self-improvement are expected traits of Trine University Faculty members.Duties and ResponsibilitiesSpecifically, the Assistant/Associate Professor will be responsible for the following duties:InstructionTeach a standard load of 18 contact hours per semesterProvide excellence in teaching with adherence to University policies and protocolPost the course syllabus in the learning management system, Moodle, and review with students on the first day of classRecord class attendanceSubmit absentee and deficiency information to Academic Support Services via MyPortalAssist students with academic deficienciesPost and maintain a regular schedule of at least ten (10) office hours per weekCurriculum development and implementationParticipate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of instructional material and curricula within the ASN programUtilize the official syllabi of record (SoR) for each course taughtIntegrate best practices from Quality Matters into courses taughtAdhere to the exam guidelines established by the ASN programProvide instruction for the class length listed in the official scheduleProgram contributionCollaborate with faculty and staffAdhere to the policies and procedures of the ASN program and nursing unitParticipate in faculty committee meetings for the nursing unitSupport student recruitment, admission, and retention for the ASN program in collaboration with the University enrollment staffParticipate in advisory board meetings for the nursing unitParticipate in the development of the nursing unit’s strategic planAssist the ASN Director of Nursing in departmental functionsFiscal management of the programProvide input for the preparation and management of the annual budgetUtilize the nursing unit’s resources responsibly to facilitate achievement of the mission, goals, core values, and expected outcomesContinuous programmatic review and analysisEngage in program evaluation with analysis of data to improve instructional and program qualityAdherence to University goals, standards, and policies as well as nursing accreditation standards and policiesProgram accreditation processesCollaborate with the Executive Director of Nursing and the ASN Director of Nursing in the completion of required accreditation documents for the Indiana State Board of Nursing and national nursing accreditor(s)Participate in accreditation documentation and activities as requiredPerform additional duties and assignments as prescribed by the Executive Director of Nursing and the ASN Director of NursingRequired EducationA Master of Nursing degree from an accredited universityAn earned doctorate degree in nursing, education, or a relevant discipline from an accredited university is preferredHolds an active, unencumbered registered nurse (RN) licence in the State of Indiana or in a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) state that includes practice privileges in Indiana.A minimum of three years’ experience in a full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the associate level is preferredA minimum of three years documented clinical experience as a registered nurseDocumented scholarship (e.g., scholarship of application, scholarship of teaching, scholarship of integration, and scholarship of discovery)SalaryRank and salary will be based on qualifications.
