Role Summary
The dietitian performs comprehensive nutritional assessments and collaborates with the interdisciplinary medical team to prescribe, implement, and monitor individualized nutrition care plans.
Roles and Responsibilities
Serve as a department representative as part of the hospital clinical care team
Adhere to all local, state, and federal safety and sanitation regulations
Develop and implement menus that align with clinical and nutritional standards
Educate patients on prescribed diets and nutritional supplements related to diagnoses
Provide recommendations for enteral and parenteral nutrition support
Assess patients for malnutrition and develop appropriate nutrition interventions and care plans
Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in food service management software
Provide inpatient nutritional counseling
Demonstrate flexibility by assuming additional appropriate responsibilities as needed
Required Skills and Experience
Current licensure as a Registered Dietitian. Candidates may still be considered if they are eligible to sit for the Registration exam- must complete and pass exam within 6 months of hire
Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics
Preferred Skills and Experience
Master's degree
One (1) year of experience in an acute care setting
Preferred skills are not required to be considered for this role.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation, including: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to stand for extended periods of time Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, including production areas and walk-in coolers/freezers
Location, Travel and Shift Requirements
Onsite - Rotating to cover both locations as needed: Cayuga Medical Center: 101 Dates Drive, Ithaca, NY 14850 Schuyler Hospital: 220 Steuben Street, Montour Falls, NY 14865
Shift: Flex schedule, days, evenings and possible weekends.
50% Travel expected for this role between locations noted above as needed
Pay Range Disclosure
Standard rate of $33.66 - $43.24 per hour
