About Catlin Gabel SchoolAt Catlin Gabel School in Portland, Oregon, athletics are an extension of the student experience and an opportunity for students to develop confidence, resilience, teamwork, and leadership. We are seeking a collaborative and enthusiastic Middle School Tennis Assistant Coach to join our program for the Spring 2027 season.This position is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys mentoring young athletes and helping middle school students develop tennis fundamentals in a positive and encouraging environment. The ideal candidate brings energy, patience, and a commitment to fostering both athletic and personal growth.As part of the coaching staff, you will work closely with the Head Coach and Athletic Department to support a welcoming and development-focused tennis program.What You’ll DoAssist with planning and leading engaging tennis practices for middle school student-athletesSupport instruction in tennis fundamentals, sportsmanship, teamwork, and match playHelp supervise and coach athletes during matches and team eventsFoster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging team cultureSupport student-athlete growth, confidence, and enjoyment of the sportAssist with equipment organization and overall program operationsCollaborate with the Head Coach, athletic department, and school staffTravel to matches and events throughout the Portland metro areaQualificationsPrevious tennis coaching and/or competitive playing experience preferredExperience working with middle school-aged students strongly preferredStrong communication, collaboration, and organizational skillsPassion for mentoring and supporting young student-athletesCommitment to creating an inclusive and respectful environmentNFHS/OSAA coaching certifications (or ability to obtain upon hire)Current First Aid/CPR certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hireReliable transportation to attend practices and athletic events throughout the Portland metro areaAdditional InformationReview of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filledStipend is competitive and based on experienceThis is a seasonal position for Spring 2027If you are passionate about tennis and excited to help middle school students develop skills, confidence, and a love of the game, we encourage you to apply.
