Manager, Tax & Treasury

Preferred location for this role is Boston.The Tax & Treasury Manager reports to the Corporate Controller and partners with Senior Management to ensure continued tax compliance, facilitate optimal tax decision making, and serve as the primary point of contact for independent and regulatory auditors on all tax matters.This role will also manage the company's cash requirements including cash forecasting, safeguarding company assets, managing the company's currency risks, and overseeing the company’s debt management and compliance.Essential Responsibilities: Ensures continued tax compliance, across all tax heads, at Federal, State, Local and International/cross-border levels. Anticipates and plans for relevant tax deadlines, and manages the internal collation of data and dialog with external advisors to ensure adequate review.Develops and maintains a cash tax model that utilizes available internal information (ie actual results, corporate forecast model) to accurately forecast the year end tax payment/refund situation, to include modelling of available net operating losses/NOLs. The model should project preliminary and final tax payments, as well as include scenario planning to reflect potential deals/outcomes.Responsible for preparation and documentation of financial statement tax processes including tax provisions. Works with the rest of the Finance and Accounting team to collate relevant information and ensure key year end and audit timelines and related deliverables are met, while retaining accurate and detailed supporting documentation.Continuously and pro-actively reviews the tax & treasury functions to ensure activities are in line with the current business needs, including a vision of the groups' long-term strategy and goals, and evaluate future organizational design and structure in support of business growth.Partners with senior leadership to ensure optimal tax decision making, manage tax advisor relationship and tax planning and research. Pro-actively identifies areas for strategic tax planning where relevant, including but not limited to acquisitions/divestments.Optimizes internal processes to simplify tax compliance and reporting efforts.Directs work with outside tax, legal and accounting advisors on domestic and international tax compliance and planning projects ensuring advisors are held accountable for delivering expected results within contracted fee arrangements.Formulates and recommends periodic updates to cash management, investment, and other financial policies for the organization to maximize available liquidity and returns while preserving capital.Monitors covenants with our external lenders, and ensures compliance, including compiling and distributing required periodic reporting.Develops and monitors treasury operational policies.Organizes and ensures controls documentation reflects current practices and procedures for tax & treasury processes.Other ad hoc analysis / projects as deemed appropriate.Experience and Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.CPA preferred.6+ years of progressive tax experience with a corporate tax department or with a Big 4 Accounting firm handling complex federal, state, and international tax issues and analysis.Experience with Federal and State tax required.Global, commercial biotechnology / pharmaceutical industry experience is preferred.Excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal and external groups.Excellent organizational and planning skills, especially around key deadlines.Strong skill set regarding presentation design, development, and delivery.Treasury & debt management experience preferred.Work Environment:The work is performed primarily in a remote office environment with occasional required in person office work, meetings, and/or travel. We are proud to provide a competitive salary range for the Tax & Treasury Manager role, which is $127,000 - $135,000.
