Come join our amazing team who helps to ensure there is never a day without space!Description of Position: The Engineer, Facilities, and Infrastructure Planner ensures infrastructure equities are integrated and assessed through various DoD and Command risk assessment and management frameworks and programs. Assesses critical assets and infrastructure systems, manages risks and develops the Command’s positions and remediation choices on these assets, systems, and capabilities.Position Responsibilities:Studies the Command’s mission sets and provides comprehensive engineering expertise to develop the engineering portions of the Command’s campaign, contingency, posture, and crisis plans and provides input to Command assessments. Provides engineering expertise on facility and infrastructure programming and investment strategies to support Command missions, objectives, and priorities. Analyzes, evaluates, and prioritizes facility and infrastructure project proposals and programming documents to attain compliance with statutory, regulatory, and Command policies. Analyzes projected installation, facility, and infrastructure-related requirements and capabilities and integrates them into project programs. Analyzes enterprise-wide trends and identifies opportunities to support Joint, DoD, and Component level programs (e.g., strategic basing, energy, operational plans, environmental, etc.) in support of the Command’s mission. Provides program policy and guidance to Command Components.Reviews and assesses infrastructure vulnerabilities, interdependencies, and effects with respect to disruption or loss of critical supporting infrastructure against threats and hazards in the operational environment. Collaborates with other CCMDs and Command Components to identify and analyze mission-interrelated critical infrastructure.Advises program managers and infrastructure owners on solutions for mitigating or reducing critical infrastructure threats and vulnerabilities in an effort to reduce risk-to-mission. Desired Skills/Expertise: Advanced knowledge of a wide range of multidisciplinary engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, and techniques that apply to facility and infrastructure project planning, programming, evaluation, and coordination.Comprehensive knowledge of the DoD’s planning, programming, and budgeting processes; financial systems; and regulatory and statutory restrictions on the expenditure of appropriated funds as related to strategic planning and program management activities.Skill in conducting strategic, contingency, operational, crisis, and installation planning through the lens of supporting space operations.Skill in gathering, assembling, and analyzing facts and data; forming conclusions; presenting information; and communicating findings and recommendations effectively, both orally and in writing.Ability to lead teams; originate new ideas, projects, and methodologies; and execute projects within established guidelines.Exceptional ability to solve broad organizational issues, implement strategic plans within and across organizational components, and ensure a cooperative teamwork environment.Advanced skill sufficient to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; negotiate complex issues; and maintain good working relationships with diverse groups and executive-level command management.Ability to organize work; set priorities; formulate goals and strategies for accomplishing objectives; build coalitions to achieve common goals; monitor progress; and assess outcomes.Previous experience at a Combatant Command and/or Service/The Joint Staff/OSD-level staff is highly desired.A Professional Engineering degree or Registered Architect Credential at the bachelor’s level from an ABET accredited institution is required.
