Health Information Tech
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Sort, classify, and verify all documents are processed per established guidelines
Administer records management processes per file structure, naming conventions according to established guidelines
Perform quality assurance checks on documents imaged into the EHR
Transfer healthcare information in paper format to electronic format
Process documents received by electronic fax in accordance with procedure guidelines
Scan new patient records in accordance to the guidelines
Preload new and returning patient’s records; analyze and extract specific information from the records to be put into structured fields within the electronic health record
Work in conjunction with the Provider’s clinical team to ensure the patient’s electronic health record is in a current status
Call patients to obtain healthcare information
Provide training in the records management process
Maintain and update the records management workflow guide
Other responsibilities as directed by manager or coordinator
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Health Information experience; Associates Degree in Health Information Management preferred
RHIT Credential-Preferred
Experience with EMR/eClinical Works
Understanding of HIPAA/Patient confidentiality
Medical terminology- Preferred
Ability to type with great accuracy
Detail oriented
