Battery Energy Storage System Technician
About the role: Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Technician supports the installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of battery energy storage systems. You have an electrical or electro‑mechanical background working with high-voltage systems in the renewables industry.ResponsibilitiesPerform installation, commissioning, inspection, troubleshooting, and maintenance of BESS equipment, including batteries, inverters, transformers, EMS, and balance-of-system componentsDiagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, and control system issues using schematics, drawings, and technical documentationConduct preventive and corrective maintenance following OEM manuals and site proceduresMonitor system performance and respond to alarms, faults, and outagesSafely work with high-voltage DC and AC systems while following all OSHA, NFPA 70E, and company safety standardsComplete service reports, maintenance logs, and incident documentation accuratelySupport system upgrades, retrofits, and warranty workCoordinate with engineering, operations, and third-party vendors during site activitiesTravel to project sites and participate in on-call or emergency response rotationsQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training preferred2+ years of experience in electrical, power generation, renewable energy, or energy storage systemsExperience with electrical fundamentals, including DC systems, three-phase AC power, and control circuitsRead and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical manualsExperience working safely around high-voltage equipmentProficiency with diagnostic tools such as multimeters, insulation testers, and laptops for system interfacesValid driver's license and ability to pass background and drug screeningPrior hands-on experience with BESS, solar PV, or wind generation systemsNFPA 70E, OSHA 10/30, or similar safety certificationsFamiliarity with lithium-ion battery technologies and thermal management systemsExperience with SCADA, monitoring platforms, or data analysis toolsSungrow PT1, PT2 experiencePhysical & Work RequirementsLift up to 50 lbs. and climb ladders or stairsWillingness to travel and work flexible hours, including nights or weekendsOur Safety Pledge To YouIf you are as committed to your success as we are committed to your safety, then this is the position for you!
