Lead Software Engineer
Job Title: Lead Developer (MERN Stack)Location: Princeton, NJDuration: 6+ months (with possibility of extensions as well as full time conversion)In this role you will:Conduct Code reviewsImplement business logic from business requirements and design specification Development of key systems using new open-source technology stackFocus on quality code, automation and good practicesContribute to and be part of the Development Center of Excellence in driving up the quality and value of software development and delivery across the enterpriseProactively contribute to our system architecture and stack design, toolset, agile and DevOps approachCollaborate closely with Agile Dev team members, Product Owners and business users to deliver business valueDevelop and test software solutions and review code qualityAutomate build, test (unit, functional and performance) and deployment of the code part of the CI/CD pipeline by working closely with Platform EngineerWe will count on you to:Perform code reviewsLead Applications Developer owns the design of the application and is responsible for the implementation with the development team and ensure the design is properly incorporated into the deliverablesAct as technical design authority collaborating with the solution architect to implement the solutionProvide application design feedback to the project team on an ongoing basisReview detailed design, code deliverables, and ensure qualityAssist the Enterprise architects in defining, implementing and overseeing technical standards, policies and toolsProvide technical oversight to development teams. Work with technical staff to understand problems with software and develop specifications to resolve them.Responsible for effective application development including integration with other Guy Carpenter systems.Responsible for operational effectiveness of the environment; adhere to Guy Carpenter Process Framework.Proactively contribute to our system architecture and stack design, toolset, agile and DevOps approachCollaborate closely with Dev team members, Product Owners and business users to deliver business valueAutomate build, test (unit, functional, security vulnerability and performance) and deployment of the code part of the CI/CD pipeline by working closely with System EngineerMentor developers on both technical topics and with Agile/DevOps adoptionEstimate Development efforts for new initiatives; help define and build Development teams by working with stakeholdersWhat you need to have:A degree in Computer Science or related field or have relevant experience5+ years of development experience in applications/product development using MEAN/MERN StackMust have experience or working knowledge of:JavaScript, TypeScript, JSON, XML, HTML, SASS/LESS/CSSWeb platforms such as NODE, Angular, React, MEAN/MERN StackMicroservices, Micro frontend Architecture, API Management (Apigee)REST API first design and Open API Specification, specifically using SwaggerAgile – TDD (Junit, Mockito, Jasmine, Karma) BDD (Cucumber) Pair Programming, Scrum/KanbanDevOps – GitHub, Git Actions, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Selenium, Artifactory, Docker/Kubernetes, Datadog/Splunk, JMeter, WhitehatDatabases: MongoDB, PostgreSQL, SQL ServerCloud – Azure, Private CloudOS – Linux, VM Architectures
