Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Aquatic Fitness Instructor to lead our classes specifically designed for residents aged 87 and above. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with seniors and a strong background in aquatic fitness instruction. This individual will be responsible for developing and leading engaging and effective aquatic fitness classes that cater to the unique needs and abilities of our active aging community.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement aquatic fitness classes tailored to the needs and abilities of an active-aging population.
Create a safe and supportive environment for participants during aquatic fitness sessions.
Provide clear and concise instructions for exercises, ensuring participants understand and can safely perform each movement.
Modify exercises as needed to accommodate participants with varying fitness levels and abilities.
Incorporate a variety of exercises and activities to promote cardiovascular health, strength, flexibility, and balance.
Monitor participants during classes, providing encouragement, motivation, and assistance as needed.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices in aquatic fitness for seniors and incorporate new techniques and exercises into classes.
Communicate effectively with participants, addressing any questions, concerns, or feedback in a timely and professional manner.
Collaborate with other staff members to promote community engagement and participation in aquatic fitness programs.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as an aquatic fitness instructor, preferably with a focus on working with seniors.
Certification in aquatic fitness instruction from a recognized organization (e.g., AEA, ACE, AFAA) is preferred but not required.
Strong understanding of exercise physiology, anatomy, and proper exercise technique.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate participants of all fitness levels.
CPR/AED certification is required.
Knowledge of safety protocols and emergency procedures in an aquatic environment.
This role starts as a contractor position, requiring professional liability insurance or willingness to get professional liability insurance.
Benefits:
$45 per hour
Schedule: Mondays and Fridays at 10am, with additional coverage opportunities available.
