Substation Engineer

Seasoned Substation Engineer with experience in single lines, site plans, electrical plans/sections, grounding, and equipment specifications. Knowledge of transformers, circuit breakers, disconnect switches, arresters, potential & current transformers, and control houses. This individual interfaces with client engineering representatives and other discipline engineers within the Valdes A&E organization. May visit job site as required for exchange of information.ResponsibilitiesSolid Knowledge within the Electrical Engineering discipline with the capability and the initiative to perform the following tasks while supervising and mentoring junior staff members Assist staff with ensuring that engineering packages are completed on time and within budgetAbility to prepare design packages consisting of one-line diagram, site plan, electrical plans & sections, conduit plans/details, grounding plan/details, and bills of materialsMaintain positive business relationships with key client's contacts throughout the project lifecycleCoordinate engineering details/drafting with multiple department designers to develop project drawingsOn-site interface with client engineering representatives and other discipline engineersCoordinate physical design for high voltage substationsAC and DC load calculationsFamiliarity with protection and controls design.Cable routing designUtility interface designSubstation DutiesPhysical designEquipment selection and specificationsBills of materialsSite plan, plans/sections, conduit, and groundingCoordinate with other design disciplinesControl building and panel hardware specificationsDevelopment of sequence of construction identifying pre-outage workTechnical CompetenciesAbility to communicate complicated issues in a simple mannerAbility to multi-task and handle multiple priorities simultaneouslyStrong verbal and written communication skillsKnowledgeable in SKM electrical modeling softwareQualificationsBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering3+ years of experience working in substation designMust possess exceptional interpersonal and organizational skillsMust be able to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future$85,000 - $125,000 a yearSalaries for all positions are based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, total years of experience in the industry, education, skills, and qualifications. Compensation may vary depending on the candidate's individual background and expertise. Salaries are subject to fluctuation outside of the given range.
