Machinist AssistantFollow established standards and operating procedures to meet daily schedule requirements while focusing on quality and operating efficiencies.Assist with general engineering, administrative duties, and basic machining tasks under close supervisionKey Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide support and assistance to senior level machinists and office personnel.Perform basic clean up, job preparation, set-ups and operation of machine tools with supervision.Assist with engineering and office functions and tasks as assigned.Perform simple metrology tests as directed and report issues or variances as instructed.Complete assigned data entry and paperwork assigned per expectations.Learn to read multi-view drawings and blueprints with general assistance.Make minor adjustments per direction to CNC machine tools.Develop a general understanding of feeds, speeds, and tooling.Become well versed in the capabilities of each of the machine tools in the facility.Contribute to meeting performance goals for scrap, rework, labor efficiency and downtime.Collaborate with other cross-functional team members i.e. engineering, programming, scheduling, purchasing and sales.Other Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform other duties as assigned.Follow all applicable safety procedures and policies as outlined in the BMG Employee Handbook.Maintain good housekeeping in work area.Education/QualificationsEnrolled in High School or recent High School diploma.Extremely accurate and detailed.Excellent mechanical aptitude.Highly motivated and a self-starter.Possess a positive team-oriented attitude.Ability to multi-task without losing efficiency or accuracy.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Strong organization, prioritizing, documentation, and follow-up skills.Ability to accept new responsibilities in a changing work environment.Environment/Physical RequirementsProlonged periods of standing / walking and general shop environment type workMust be able to lift 15 lbs at times.Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
