The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating and underwriting small business lending applications, ensuring creditworthiness, and maintaining the overall quality of the loan portfolio. This institution is committed to fostering a positive and family-like atmosphere within the bank and to provide opportunities for career advancement and growth for their employees.Workplace (On-site, Hybrid, Remote): On-site in Elmwood Park, NJRequirements:Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field, or equivalent business experience.Minimum of 5 years of experience in small business underwriting, with strong credit skills and knowledge of credit policies.Proficient in analyzing tax returns, operating statements, and pro-forma statements to calculate loan-to-value and debt coverage ratios. Extensive experience in cash flow and leverage analysis.Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.Description:Process, underwrite, and make credit decisions (approve/decline) for applications sourced from the branch network and Small Business Relationship Managers.Analyze financial data, assess credit risks, and determine the creditworthiness of borrowers for loan requests for up to $1M.Monitor the loan portfolio through annual reviews, renewals, and ensure compliance with financial and covenant requirements.Communicate credit decisions and issues effectively with customers and relevant personnel within the organization.Collect and analyze borrower information, including historical and current financial statements, and industry data.Prepare loan submissions for the Credit Committee when required.Stay updated on bank credit policies, loan programs, and real estate market trends.
