Construction Estimator - Gas Stations/Convenience Stores
EstimatorPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our construction team with a focus on gas stations and convenience store projects. The Estimator will produce accurate, competitive cost estimates and proposals, support the bid process, and collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure profitable project awards and successful project starts.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare comprehensive, accurate cost estimates and proposals for gas station and convenience store construction projects, including material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, overhead and profit components.Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications and develop detailed cost breakdowns and takeoff reports.Solicit, evaluate and coordinate subcontractor and supplier quotations; compare bids and incorporate into overall estimates.Conduct site visits and feasibility reviews to verify existing conditions, scope elements and potential cost drivers.Perform value engineering and constructability reviews to identify cost savings and risk mitigation opportunities while maintaining design intent.Develop and maintain historical pricing databases, unit cost libraries and bid documents to improve estimating consistency and accuracy.Prepare bid packages, clarify scope with clients and design teams, and respond to RFI and bid inquiries during the tender process.Analyze project risk and develop contingency allowances and assumptions documentation.Collaborate with project managers and preconstruction teams to transition awarded projects, assist with scheduling input, and support change order pricing during construction.Ensure estimates comply with local building codes, environmental and safety regulations, and client-specific requirements.Qualifications5+ years of estimating experience in construction with demonstrable experience on gas station and convenience store projects (required).Nice to have: prior estimating experience on commercial and retail projects; experience working with national account clients or chain rollouts; Estimating certification or construction industry training (preferred).Proven ability to produce accurate estimates, quantity takeoffs and bid packages.Comfortable reading and interpreting architectural, structural and MEP drawings and specifications.Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, CostX) and advanced MS Excel skills.Strong commercial awareness of construction costs, subcontractor markets and procurement strategies.Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to prepare clear proposals and present estimates to internal teams and clients.Detail-oriented, numerate, able to manage multiple bids and tight deadlines.Valid drivers license and ability to perform site visits as required.Location:Prefer in-office in Lakeland, FLOpen to hybrid/remote, but candidate must be located within 2 hours of Lakeland, FL (Tampa, Orlando, etc.)Occasional travel (2-3 times per quarter) for trade shows or project scoping visitsBenefitsBase Salary: $100,000 - $110,000/yearLucrative Bonus Program Based on Percentage of Project ProfitTotal Expected Earnings: $150,000 - $175,000401KMedical InsuranceVision InsuranceDental InsuarancePaid Time OffGreat Company Culture
