Director, Data Center Operations (PHX01) Phoenix, AZ | On-siteAbout the RoleThis is a hands-on technical leadership role responsible for leading day-to-day operations of a mission-critical data center environment.We are looking for a leader with a strong foundation in electrical and/or mechanical systems who can effectively lead technical teams, engage directly with infrastructure, and make real-time operational decisions in a high-availability environment.While prior data center experience is preferred, candidates must demonstrate strong technical aptitude and the ability to quickly learn and apply critical facilities systems.Key ResponsibilitiesLead day-to-day operations of a mission-critical data center, ensuring high availability, safety, and reliabilityManage and develop multidisciplinary teams including critical facilities, logistics, and site securityMaintain and oversee electrical and mechanical infrastructure, including power distribution, UPS, generators, and cooling systemsActively engage in incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysisProvide hands-on leadership and technical guidance to site teamsManage site-level OPEX and CAPEX budgets, vendor contracts, and service agreementsEstablish and track KPIs related to uptime, maintenance, and operational performancePartner with construction, engineering, and operations teams on expansions and improvementsDrive continuous improvement across operations and vendor performanceRequired Qualifications8+ years of leadership experience in critical infrastructure or technical operations environments8+ years of experience supporting electrical and/or mechanical systemsDemonstrated ability to lead technical teams in hands-on operational environmentsStrong understanding of core electrical and/or mechanical concepts (power, load, redundancy, etc.)Experience in mission-critical environments such as data centers, utilities, industrial, or power generationProven ability to learn and apply complex systems quicklyExperience managing teams, vendors, and operational budgetsPreferred QualificationsData center operations experience (hyperscale or enterprise)Experience with systems such as:Generators, UPS, switchgearChillers, pumps, air handling systemsExperience with incident management, preventative maintenance, and reliability programsExperience with data tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)What We’re Looking ForA hands-on leader, not a purely strategic operatorStrong technical foundation (electrical or mechanical)Ability to clearly communicate technical and leadership experienceComfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environmentHigh ownership, accountability, and ability to perform under pressureImportant NoteCandidates should be prepared to discuss:Technical problem-solving experienceLeadership examples with measurable outcomesSituations where they exceeded expectations
