Also requires 8+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 6 years of job-related experience.Clearance Requirements:Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.Responsibilities for this PositionDuties and Tasks:Plans, authorizes, and monitors the engineering work (including providing strong leadership to ensure all events occur as planned)Staffs the project team (along with SEM and maybe Director of Engineering) with the appropriate engineering personnelFosters cross-functional collaboration and builds project consensusMay be responsible for some of the following: performance, cost, scope and schedule for all engineering efforts (including efforts that are subcontracted)Ensures that total system requirements are validatedEnsures that total system is integrated, tested and verifiedEnsures all project deliverables (including documentation) are developed with high quality and delivered on timeDevelops and maintains engineering plans as required by the projectManages the engineering related risks and opportunities of the projectAssists with developing and managing the project change management processEnsures that all engineering processes to be used adhere to established engineering practicesManages engineering resources (e.g. staff assignments, capital equipment, etc.), organizational interfaces, and engineering scopeIdentifies, develops, analyzes, and reports engineering project measuresConducts monthly engineering status reviews and provides material for the monthly program reviewsImplements effective corrective actions as requiredManages the resolution of technical issues and ensures that they are communicated and resolved.Conducts lessons learned after each major phase of the projectScope of projects are usually small to medium and/or have small to medium engineering teams or may assist a DPME running a larger program.Helps provide a clear understanding of project goalsEnsures that team members are rewarded for their contributionsMay provide performance feedback and management for the project teamTakes immediate & decisive action in dealing with technical & performance issuesLeads small proposals and ECPs with identification of cross business unit strengths and technical shortcomingsAssists in ROM developmenKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Proven organizational and time management skillsProven communication skillsStrong leadership skillsProven team building and motivation skillsProven conflict resolution and negotiation skillsProven problem-solving skills in complex environmentsRecognized internally as fully proficient in project managementFully proficient ability to apply or develop highly advanced technologies, principles, theories and conceptsStrong understanding of company policies and practicesStrong understanding of engineering processes and practicesStrong proficiency at planning and organization skillsStrong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of tools and Microsoft ProjectStrong knowledge of various project life cycles including agileStrong proficiency with communicating issues, impacts, and corrective actionsStrong ability to easily and effectively communicate project topics to a diverse audienceStrong ability to clearly report relevant informationStrong ability to understand and apply project leadership principles including SPI/CPI, Earned Value, Cost Account Management (CAM), and Statistical Process Controls for complex programsStrong ability to anticipate technology, process, and skill needsDemonstrates proactive leadership and has name recognition throughout the business unitCreates an environment in which impact of technology on the business is clearly recognizeSalary NoteThis estimate represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors (geographic location, etc.).
