Mechanical Estimator
Department Overview: Actively pursuing strategic opportunities, ideas, and initiatives to make our business better. This includes but is not limited to increasing revenue & growth, cultivating partnerships with Contractors & Vendors, actively monitoring the Municipal Water Market, and collaborating with all departments in developing long-term value-added processes rather than quick cash solutions. Position Overview: Santa Fe Water Systems has an opening for a Mechanical Estimator in our growing Business Development Department. You will be part of the team that targets rapidly growing, countless upgrading and modern advancement projects in California's Water Infrastructure Sector. Responsibilities Include but not Limited to: Work Closely to Support Municipal Execution Team (MET) & Storm Water and Treatment Team (SWAT) with transition of awarded projects and quotes. Comprehend & Digest complex construction plans for all wastewater, treatment municipal, Water Works, and OEM projects. Perform detailed mechanical takeoffs of all targeted projects to ensure accuracy. Supply highlighted/tagged project drawings to assure Contractors' confidence in our mechanical takeoff. Negotiate pre-bid and post-bid pricing with Contractors and Vendors. Cultivate or maintain relationships with Contractors and Vendors. Collaborating with the Contractors' Estimating team on all bidding projects, especially target projects. Prepare clear, accurate, and responsible quotes. On-going product training with current/future vendors. Pursue the most competitive pricing to provide a more favorable quote. Consistent monitoring of our SFWS's products/services offerings for the current water market. Bi-weekly meetings with Upper Management on current & future projects. Qualification: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related degree from an accredited four-year college or university program is preferred but NOT required. Self-starter and Highly Motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence. Detailed Oriented, Organized, and a Forward Planner. Highly Communicative at multiple levels- Interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Team Player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Etc.). Bluebeam is a plus. Experience with valves, steel & thermal plastic piping systems, and mechanical appurtenances is a plus.
