General Counsel — Frontier AI$300-350k base plus Bonus & Equity Palo Alto (3 days a week onsite) Be the first lawyer at a frontier AI lab building general-purpose world models.We build causal, interactive, real-time simulations of persistent, agent-ready worlds, not one-off generated clips. We're small, fast, and moving towards the next stage of scale. We're hiring our first in-house counsel to own the legal function end-to-end and build it from zero. This is a generalist role at the bleeding edge. You'll be the legal partner on deals that define the company's compute and infrastructure commitments across cloud and silicon, while handling everything from commercial contracts to employment, IP, and corporate matters. It starts as an individual contributor role and is designed to grow into a team lead within 18–24 months.What you'll doOwn the entire legal surface as our first internal counsel across corporate, commercial, employment, IP, data/privacy, and regulatory.Partner on compute and infrastructure deals: structure and negotiate multi-cloud, silicon, and hyperscaler commitments alongside finance and leadership.Move commercial, enterprise, vendor, and partnership contracts at speed, building the templates and playbooks that let legal scale.Handle employment, corporate, and governance matters across the US, UK, and Switzerland, and support financing and board work.Decide what stays in-house versus outside counsel, and manage external firms to cut costs and latency.Who you areA generalist with deep subject-matter expertise in bleeding-edge tech — AI, autonomous vehicles, robotics, or AI infrastructure / deep tech.Close to the mechanics of compute, infrastructure, or complex commercial deals.From a top-tier firm or in-house at a frontier/deep-tech company — in-house experience isn't required; subject-matter expertise is.International in outlook, with cross-border experience.A builder with high agency who works as a peer to leadership and uses AI tools to do legal work faster.
