Benefits and Underwriting Analyst

As a Benefits Analyst, you will provide underwriting, marketing, eligibility, and benefit plan analysis and support to the account team for current clients and prospects. This position requires critical thinking and strategic communication ability to ensure our team and our clients understand what their data truly means. This is a hybrid position allowing flexibility for a combination of in-office and at-home work. Come be a part of our success story!What Makes this Job So Unique?This position is responsible for providing the account team underwriting support in obtaining competitive renewals and proposals. Prepares client and prospect reports, such as plan cost history, plan design comparisons, funding alternative(s), benchmarking, contribution analysis, claim and enrollment tracking, PEPY (per employee per year) calculations, multi-year cost projections, network discount analysis, disruption analysis and other ad- hoc exhibits as required. Identifies anomalies in the data, researches and discusses with account team. Follows Strategic Planning schedule or other agreed upon presentation schedule to prepare presentations such as: Pre-Renewal, Renewal, Year-End Review, Multi-Year Planning, etc. Accesses and analyzes available utilization data from markets. Summarizes data for presentation to clients and prospects.Qualified Candidates Should PossessA bachelor's degree in business, actuarial, general studies or similar area2 -3 years' experience with health insurance underwriting and/or data management preferred but not requiredCarrier or Agency experience preferredExperience in reading and interpreting reports from insurance carriers preferred A high energy level and the ability to work under significant pressure with frequent interruptionsSolid problem-solving skills and the ability to concurrently handle a large number of issuesOrganizational skills and the ability to prioritizeSuperior written and verbal communication skillsProficiency with software programs, such as, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, and mathematical calculationsAbility to establish rapport and relationships with clients and carrier representativesInsurance licenses (Life, Accidental & Health) required or willing to obtain within 6 months of employmentGoogle Suite experience preferredWhat We Offer YouBSI engages in an employee-first approach as part of our team-oriented and supportive culture.
