Estimating Assistant

The Estimating Assistant will act as the point of contact with clients for processes related to estimating. Individuals in this role will be responsible for managing communication with builders and clients during projects until project completion, creating proposals, reviewing plans selections and pricing contracts, conducting products research and updating data in the company job management system. This role requires advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including creating complex formulas, performing data analysis using pivot tables and creating customized informational charts. Individuals must possess a strong attention to details to meet company accuracy standards, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a team. Duties/Responsibilities: Prepare proposals for builders with accuracy; research items and request prices as needed, review plans and specifications, and manage communication with builders throughout the process until completion. Perform daily tasks using advanced Excel skills to create and maintain several Excel workbooks, create complex formulas, conduct data analysis, macros and use pivot tables. Manage invoices, account payable, record transactions and reconcile accounts. Track, analyze, and report actual costs during and after projects to control spending, improve profitability, and guide management decisions Build customized informational charts to report findings from data analysis. Manage data, enter data in the company jobs management software and create reports. Review pricing contracts, ensure accuracy and process any discrepancies following departmental procedures. Research and learn products independently, become familiar with department processes and computer files. Download, process and maintain volume and custom plan scans/prototype plans. Create, update and maintain standard operating procedure documents “SOPs”. Identify potential risks and opportunities for cost savings during the estimating process Maintain organized records of all estimates, including supporting documentation. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field preferred Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, charts) Experience in estimating and construction or plumbing preferred Analytical ability, mathematical aptitude, attention to detail and organization Proficiency with technology, computers, and software Excellent problem-solving skills, as well as communication skills with the ability to effectively work in a team environment Exhibit professional behavior and professional communication Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy Ability to prioritize and work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment Physical Requirements: This position requires prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer, typing, writing, and analyzing data. Moving, carrying and lifting equipment weighing up to 30 pounds. Moving throughout the building to perform daily tasks. Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
