Systems Engineer – CONTRACT (W2 or 1099)Hybrid, ClevelandEligibility: Due to Federal Project Guidelines, US Citizenship is required for this roleThe Systems Engineer is responsible for maintaining and supporting the organization's server infrastructure and cloud environments. This role requires strong hands-on experience across Windows server environments and cloud platforms, with the ability to install, monitor, and optimize systems while ensuring security and performance. The ideal candidate can work independently, troubleshoot complex issues, and contribute to ongoing infrastructure improvements.Requirements & QualificationsRequired: Equivalent hands-on technical experience may substitute for formal educationPreferred: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related fieldMinimum 5 years of experience in a Windows server environmentExperience supporting server infrastructure and/or cloud environmentsStrong technical knowledge of: Windows Server (2003 – current), Windows 10, Microsoft Office / Office 365, Azure, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, IIS, FTP, Spam filtering, MECM (SCCM) and Intune, VMware, Lotus NotesPractical knowledge of Ethernet and WAN technologiesPreferred ExperienceExperience with automation of tasks and processesKnowledge, Skills & AbilitiesStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsAbility to communicate effectively with technical teams, end users, and leadershipAbility to create and maintain technical documentationAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionDescription & DutiesServer AdministrationPerform Windows Server administration functionsAdminister web servers and maintain Active Directory domain controllersManage DNS, DHCP, print servers, and printer lifecyclePatch and upgrade servers as requiredCloud & Infrastructure SupportSupport Microsoft Office 365 and Azure environmentsAdminister MECM (SCCM) and IntuneMaintain and improve PC imaging processesMonitor and evaluate server infrastructure performanceHardware & Software SupportImplement, maintain, and support server hardware and softwareManage software licensing (e.g., AutoCAD, Minitab, SolidWorks, Meridian)Troubleshooting & SupportProvide 24x7 on-call support for server and infrastructure issuesTroubleshoot hardware, software, servers, PCs, and printersSupport service desk escalationsDocumentation & Continuous ImprovementCreate and maintain documentation for systems, applications, and proceduresRecommend improvements for infrastructure, security, and scalabilityIdentify and implement process improvements to enhance performance and efficiency
