Shipping Assistant - Class B CDL

Position Summary:The Shipping/Receiving Assistant is responsible for safely and efficiently shipping, receiving, and transporting local loads between company plants and designated locations. This position requires a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and adherence to all federal, state, and company safety regulations. If you do not already have a Class B License, you will be expected to get one in the first 3 months of starting. The Driver will ensure timely delivery of goods, maintain accurate records, and keep company vehicles in good working condition.Key Responsibilities:Safely operate company vehicles requiring a Class B CDL to transport materials between local plants and facilities.Verify load accuracy and ensure proper securement of materials for transport.Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any maintenance or safety issues immediately.Follow all DOT regulations, traffic laws, and company safety policies at all times.Maintain accurate delivery logs, inspection reports, and other required documentation.Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and plant personnel regarding load status and delivery schedules.Assist with loading and unloading materials as needed.Keep assigned vehicle clean and in proper working condition.Qualifications: Required:Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections in compliance with DOT standards.Strong understanding of local and state traffic laws and safety regulations.Preferred:Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record.Previous experience driving short-haul or local routes.Familiarity with basic vehicle maintenance.Physical Requirements:Ability to sit for extended periods while driving.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when loading/unloading materials.Work in varying weather conditions when outdoors.Work Schedule:Local routes only, typically within 10-mile radius.Monday – Friday 9:30am – 5:30pm
