REPORTS TO: Operations Director
STATUS: Full-time / full benefits (medical, dental, retirement); $35,360 starting salary
DIRECT REPORTS: Coordinators, YDPs, MSC, and volunteers
JOB SUMMARY:
The Clubhouse Director (CD) is responsible for being the leader and champion of the Clubhouse in order to improve the lives of the youth they serve. The CD works in partnership with the leadership staff (CEO, Operations Director, Nutrition Director, other CD’s) and the Clubhouse staff to create a Club experience based on the 5 Key elements:
1. Safe environment (physically and emotionally)
2. Fun programs
3. Supportive relationships with staff
4. Opportunities and expectations for Club members
5. Recognition
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Safety/Leadership – 30%
1. Supervise and inspire program staff to ensure the effective operation and delivery of programs within the Club.
2. Ensure Clubhouse compliance with all Boys and Girls Clubs of Western Treasure Valley (BGCWTV) safety policies/procedures for youth and staff identify and evaluate opportunities for improvement and implement plans for improvements
3. Ensure productive and effective staff performance, providing guidance, feedback and opportunities for professional development
4. Ensure a safe/clean/well maintained Clubhouse, ensuring facilities, equipment and supplies are in good working order at all times
5. Recruit, supervise, coach and provide career development opportunities for all staff and volunteers
6. Onboard and manage Club staff and volunteers
7. Provide continual coaching and staff training to improve each staff’s youth development skills
8. Conduct regular meetings with staff
Programming– 30%
Demonstrate leadership and communicate the vision to help the Club achieve its mission of serving the kids who need us most.
2. Implement programs, services and activities that support youth development outcomes
3. Plan, develop, implement and evaluate overall program delivery systems to increase Clubhouse capacity to consistently deliver high quality Club programing, activities, and experiences while meeting member needs and interests
4. Compile regular reports reflecting all activities, attendance and participation
5. Ensure Clubhouse is always acting to meet the mission and policies of BGCWTV
6. Become fully knowledgeable of YPQI practices and mirror these practices with staff and youth
7. Use the Continuous Quality Improvement cycle to plan, execute, and evaluate Clubhouse practices
Resource/Financial Management- 15%
Assist in the development of budgets
2. Manage financial resources and control expenditures (payroll, supplies, facility repair etc.) against budget
3. Ensure administrative and operational systems are in place to maintain the operation of the physical properties and equipment of the Club, including use of facilities by outside groups
Marketing, Public Relations, and Special Events – 25%
Maintain strong, positive Club social media presence
Develop partnerships with parents, community leaders, school district & schools and organizations
Develop and deliver Parent or Guardian orientation materials and provide Club Parent or Guardian orientations as needed
Develop and maintain public relations to increase the visibility of programs, services and activities within the Club and the community
Plan and implement internal Clubhouse events and assist with annual Club fundraisers as needed
Supervisory Duties:
Directly supervises the Coordinators, YDPs, MSC, and volunteers.
Responsible for the development and implementation of programming of the Clubhouse.
Responsible for budget management for Clubhouse purchases.
Demonstrates effective management of a team toward achievement of goals, including appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Minimum Qualifications:
Credentials & Experience:
a) High School Diploma – required; post-secondary education (Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree preferred)
b) CPR and First Aide (Provided)
c) Drivers’ License - Must possess a valid driver’s license
d) A minimum of 2 years of demonstrable experience in professional management experience with 5 or more direct reports – preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
a) Strong initiative and ability to work independently; self-starting and motivated
b) Strong time-management skills to prioritize tasks and deadlines while maintaining a balanced
schedule
c) Strong team leadership skills to successfully lead 10+ staff in meeting long and short term objectives
d) Strong communication skills, verbal and written
e) Ability to work with diverse personalities in a busy, dynamic/stressful environment
f) Ability to be flexible and adaptable
g) Ability to lead and work with and contribute to a team
h) Ability to use office technology and equipment (laptop, phone, printer) and software (Word, Excel,
etc.)
i) Ability to learn facility management processes
Physical Demands & Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
Stand, reach, stoop, kneel, sit; talk, and listen/hear
Use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work
Light to moderate lifting is required (lifting up to or over 50 lbs.)
Ability to maintain professionalism and uphold the stress of work-related travel
Regular, predictable attendance is required; Club functions and events may require extended daily hours be worked as such business demands dictate.
Ability to handle moderate noise (i.e. noisy business office with computers, phones, and printers, moderate-levels of traffic, including the presence of active children participating in activities and games).
Must be able to climb stairs, stand for extended periods of time, and walk frequently
Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.
