Lead LAN/WAN Engineer
The Lead LAN/Wan Engineer will assist an Intelligence Community (IC) organization in technically transforming its current services with leading edge technology surges by designing, implementing and operating network monitoring tool suites.
The Engineer will support design, transition, operations, and continual service improvement activities associated with the organization’s Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks, Unified Communication (UC), Video Teleconferencing (VTC), Streaming, and other services, leveraging core expertise in at least one relevant toolset. The Lead LAN/WAN Engineer will provide expert Design, analysis, research, and operation support to exceptionally complex networking problems and processes. The successful candidate must be able to communicate clearly and succinctly both written and orally. The candidate will be required to work in dynamic fast paced environments that require team interaction and coordination of efforts.
Responsibilities:
Serving as a leader in the local- and wide-area networking; highly sought by others for advice and guidance.
Serving as a technical expert on established and ad-hoc project teams providing technical direction, interpretation, and alternatives on existing and new services to meet both architectural and operational needs.
Providing expertise in Information Systems Architecture, Telecommunications Systems Design, Architecture, Implementation, Information Systems Integration, and Communications and Network Systems Management.
May manage small teams of engineers and related technical staff such as cyber specialists and testers.
Providing insight into cutting edge technologies, integrations, and capabilities.
Consulting with other engineers, team leads, or customer stakeholders on requirements, technical direction.
Providing expertise on, deep knowledge of, and hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, F5, Aruba, Ruckus, Versa, NOM, NetScout and/or related network components or network monitoring and management tools.
Provide deep expertise on BPG, OSPF, Tunnels (GRE, SudeoWire, VPN, L2TP), Spine and Leaf and BGP Peering.
Requirements:
Bachelors degree and 7 years’ relevant experience; OR High School/GED and 11 years’ experience; OR Associates degree and 9 years’ experience; OR Masters Degree and 5 years’ experience; OR PhD and 3 year’s experience.
Active TS/SCI Clearance (Counter Intelligence (CI) Polygraph preferred).
IAT II Certification (e.g. Security+).
CCNP or CCIE certification (or industry equivalent).
Preferred:
Active/recent CI Polygraph.
Experience directly supporting/engineering IC applications and networks.
