Manufacturing Engineering Internship

MMI Engineered Solutions is seeking a motivated engineering student to join our team as a Manufacturing Engineering Intern. This hands-on internship offers real-world exposure to how a manufacturing plant operates behind the scenes. The selected candidate will gain experience using our IQMS (ERP) system for asset and inventory management, learn the procurement process for maintenance and spare parts, and develop a foundational understanding of how injection molding machines and plant equipment function. This role is ideal for a mechanically inclined student who wants practical, operations-based experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Key ResponsibilitiesIdentify and catalog company assets at our Saline and Warren location, and upload them into IQMS for asset management trackingEstablish and update preventative maintenance schedules in IQMS according to manufacturer specificationsAssist in improving and organizing Maintenance, Engineering, and Tooling inventory systemsImplement Kanban systems for critical spare parts to improve availability and efficiencySupport Maintenance with large repairs and equipment-related projectsParticipate in initiatives that promote safety, operational efficiency, and continuous improvementSupport additional engineering, tooling, and maintenance projects as assignedQualifications:Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related field preferred)Mechanically inclined with a strong understanding of how equipment and systems functionStrong time management skills with the ability to complete projects accurately and on scheduleComfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentProactive, detail-oriented, and eager to learnWork Environment:Hands-on manufacturing-floor environmentExposure to machinery, tooling, and maintenance operationsStanding and walking for extended periods in areas that may be hot, noisy, or dustyCommitment to safety and MIOSHA standardsWhy Intern at MMI?Gain hands-on experience in a real manufacturing environmentWork directly with engineers, maintenance professionals, and plant leadershipDevelop practical skills in asset management, preventative maintenance systems, and lean manufacturing conceptsOpportunity to build experience that supports future engineering career growthWho We Are:MMI Engineered Solutions is a plastic injection molding and engineering solutions provider headquartered in Saline, Michigan, with additional offices in Troy, Warren, and Monterrey, Mexico.
