Type:3 months to 1 year contract with additional option yearsFull Time or Part Time:Full-TimePay Rate:$28.00 – $42.00 per hour (negotiable)Location:TBD – OnsiteMust be willing to relocate anywhere in the U.S.Language Requirements:Write, read, and speak EnglishLanguage Preferences:Bilingual (English/Spanish)Job OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented Fire Inspector to perform inspections, plan reviews, and enforcement of fire codes, life safety regulations, and departmental standards. This position is responsible for evaluating commercial, residential, and public facilities to ensure compliance with applicable fire codes and standards, assisting with fire prevention programs, and providing guidance to property owners and occupants. The Fire Inspector will document findings, recommend corrective actions, and support fire safety education initiatives. Candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain a security clearance and maintain it as required. Clearance level is to be determined. Performs other duties as assigned.Experience RequirementsMinimum of five (5) years of experience in fire service, fire prevention, or code enforcementExperience conducting fire inspections, plan reviews, and enforcement activitiesKnowledge of NFPA codes, local fire codes, and life safety regulationsExperience preparing inspection reports and recommending corrective actionsStrong communication and public interaction skillsAbility to work independently and exercise sound judgment in enforcing codesProficiency using tablets, mobile devices, and inspection software to document findings in real timeExperience entering, updating, and managing inspection data within digital reporting systems, databases, or permitting platformsFamiliarity with inspection management systems such as Firehouse, ImageTrend, ESO, or similar platformsAbility to navigate software interfaces, including understanding basic icons, menus, and mobile applicationsProficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook for reporting and communicationExperience using digital cameras or mobile devices to capture and upload inspection photos and documentationStrong attention to detail with the ability to accurately document findings and maintain recordsAbility to communicate clearly with property owners, contractors, and internal teamsExperience working independently in the field while managing schedules and inspection workloadsComfortable working in a technology-enabled environment with the ability to quickly learn new systems and toolsExperience PreferencesExperience in a municipal or county fire department or fire prevention divisionFamiliarity with fire safety education programs and community outreachExperience with inspection software and record-keeping systemsExperience coordinating with building officials, contractors, and regulatory agenciesPhysical RequirementsAbility to conduct inspections in various building environments, including climbing ladders, walking stairs, and accessing confined spacesAbility to perform physically demanding work, including lifting and carrying inspection equipmentAbility to respond to emergency situations if requiredEducation RequirementsAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Public Safety, or a related fieldEducation PreferencesNFPA Fire Inspector I & II certification or equivalentCertification in life safety code or fire prevention programsTraining Schedule:TBDSchedule:Varies based on operational needs; includes availability for inspections, meetings, nights, weekends, and holidaysDress Code:TBDBenefits:TBDAdditional Information:Drug screening, background, and reference checks are performed if required.
