Overview
As an Infrared Sensor Test Engineer, you design and execute test campaigns to validate sensor performance and support production readiness. You will integrate hardware and software, collaborating with hardware, software, and program leads to deliver flight-qualified hardware. You’ll develop test plans, operate lab equipment, and automate data processing to inform design improvements. ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain test plans, procedures, and schedules for infrared sensor hardwareSet up and operate laboratory equipment (function generators, oscilloscopes, etc.)Build, modify, and integrate sensor prototypes including firmware/software driversExecute functional, environmental, and performance tests and analyze dataAutomate test sequences and data processing using MATLAB, Python, C/C++, SQL, Java, or HTMLGenerate test reports, traceability matrices, and design improvement recommendationsTroubleshoot hardware/software issues and implement corrective actionsSupport production units by qualifying new builds and updating test docsCollaborate with engineers, program managers, and suppliers to align with schedule and cost goalsMentor junior team members and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Key requirementsBachelor’s degree in STEM with 5+ years of experience, or related Master’s with 3+ years, or PhD with 1+ year; or equivalent experienceExperience coding in scripting languages including MATLAB, C, C++, SQL, Java, HTML, or PythonExperience in a laboratory setting testing hardware and electronicsAbility to read electrical schematics and probe electronics/circuit cardsAbility to obtain and maintain a DoD Security ClearanceTeam collaborationMentorshipStrong problem-solving and communicationMATLABPythonC/C++
