Physician Assistant (PA)/Nurse Practitioner (NP)-Orthopaedics-Sub-specialty

We are currently seeking a Full-Time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to support our board-certified surgeons in our offices located in Hampton, Williamsburg, & Suffolk. Qualified candidates will support the facility ideology, mission, goals and objectives. This individual will recognize patient right and responsibilities and supports them in performance of job duties. This position will be largely office based with limited operating room exposure. This position will be responsible for after-hours patient phone calls in a rotating schedule, shared among all PA / NPs. Phone call only, not required to report to hospital or office.Our facilities are within a few hours of Washington D.C., Virginia Beach, the Outer Banks and the Blue Ridge Mountains for those who enjoy outdoor activities (biking, hiking, water activities, etc) and plenty of historical landmarks.Located on the Tidewater peninsula, our Hampton clinic is the ideal location for an enthusiastic Physician Assistant that is motivated to work with a diverse client population including athletes, and worksite injuries, elective surgical interventions and other diagnoses.We offer a generous compensation package for Full-Time employment. Bonus plans are available as part of the compensation program.Physician Assistant dutiesObtain medical history to include but not exclusive of current complaint, past medical history, family medical history, social history, medications, allergies, compliance with previous treatments and care plan, and determine which diagnostic and therapeutic procedures have been done. The PA-C should also be able to measure/record physiologic and growth indices, as well as apply health promotion principles and techniques.Provides acute and chronic patient care including orthopedic exam, wellness physical exams, pre-operative interview and exam (H&P), monitoring therapies, administering injections, minor office surgical procedures, and prescribing medications.Triage patient calls and take appropriate action or refer to appropriate physician or office staff.Respond to medical emergencies, including use of CPR.Timely document patient information and care provided in patient records and maintain department statistics. Use computer to access/enter needed data. Maintain patient confidentiality.Educates patients and families as appropriate. Provide continuity of care.Review labs, diagnostics and physical therapy progress notes.Other duties as assigned by supervising physician.Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines (OSHA)Compliance with patient confidentiality (HIPPAA) and Red Flag RulesCooperative work attitude toward co-employees, management, patients, visitors, and physiciansAbility to promote favorable facility image with physicians, patients, hospitals, other physician offices, and general public.Ability to make decisions and solve problems.Work effectively as team member with physicians and other staffAppropriately interact with patients, families, and othersAbility to flexibly respond to changing demands.Must have a flexible work schedule with the ability to work early/late as needed.RequirementsCurrent state PA license, or eligible for same; certified by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.Current CPR or ALS certification.Good communication skillsGood computer skillsStrong ethical and moral character referencesPhysical / Mental Requirements1.Varied activities including sitting, standing, walking, stooping, lifting, bending, reaching2.Must be able to use appropriate body mechanics techniques when making necessary patient transfers and helping patients with walking, dressing, etc. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
