Position Type:.Support Staff/Special Education AideDate Posted:5/5/2026Location:Black River Public SchoolDate Available:08/16/2026Closing Date:06/05/2026Position DescriptionThe intervention specialist provides specialized training in reading, English, mathematics and writing to students who are struggling academically; he or she also works with various school members to implement intervention programs.Essential Duties and Responsibilities of an Intervention SpecialistWorks as a member of the student support team to develop intervention plans for individual students and groups of students.Assesses students using various measures to determine present level skills.Analyzes and uses data to plan appropriate instructionProvides instruction to individual students and/or small groups of students to increase grade-level skills.Monitors progress of students, maintains progress records and communicates progress with parents, teachers, and student support team members.Participates in evaluations of student intervention plans.Attends professional development sessions to improve knowledge and skills.Education and ExperienceThe candidate should possess a valid Michigan teaching license.He or she should also have a Bachelor's degree in education or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
