Software Developer (Java)Industry: Quantitative TradingRole OverviewOur client is a leading quantitative trading firm, looking for a Java Software Developer. You will work in close collaboration with the research, systems, and operations teams to design, engineer, implement, and maintain our core Java-based software infrastructure.Key ResponsibilitiesInfrastructure Engineering: Maintain and extend the firm's core distributed research infrastructure and large-scale computing farms.Data & Storage Systems: Design, implement, and maintain distributed storage systems tailored to varying performance and reliability requirements.Performance Optimization: Address performance limitations within proprietary software, open-source libraries, and the Linux kernel to optimize network latency and throughput.Monitoring & Reliability: Develop, improve, and deploy advanced monitoring and proactive issue-detection capabilities to ensure system stability.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Communicate with stakeholders across trading, research, and operations teams to define clear application specifications and conduct rigorous code reviews.Data-Driven Decisions: Perform basic data analysis to support architectural decision-making and scale the platform for future growth.Team Growth: Participate in the engineering recruitment process by conducting interviews and evaluating technical talent.Qualifications & SkillsCore Expertise: Superior ability to write, refactor, and debug high-performance, clean programs in Java.Systems Knowledge: Strong, comprehensive understanding of the entire technical stack—from individual machine architecture to large-scale distributed systems.Infrastructure: Solid working knowledge of networking protocols, communication layers, and storage systems.Education: Preferred degree in a computing-related discipline (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, etc.) or equivalent extensive professional software development experience.Preferred PlusesExperience or working knowledge of C++.Deep familiarity with Linux environments.Prior experience within the proprietary trading, hedge fund, or electronic market-making industry.
