KNAPP Group's unrelenting development activity is evident in everything from automated order picking systems and continuing refinement of container handling technology to its state-of-the-art, industry leading software solutions.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Investigate and rectify electro-mechanical faults and provide preventative measures for proper operation of equipment based on design specificationsProvide emergency breakdown and specialist engineering expertiseEstablish and calibrate automation equipment, and analyze the results of precision testingProvide engineering expertise for the installation of conveyor and precision automation equipmentMonitor systems and supplied equipment to ensure proper care and functionality, and react to observed needs of the system based on design specificationsPerform mechanical strip-down/re-assembly, wiring, machine calibration and system testing and analyzing according to the system design requirementsOverseeing updates to various types of machinery systems and providing instruction related to the proper engineering specificationsEngineer equipment modifications and designs to complete troubleshooting of PLC-based machinery and highly automated robotics equipment and control systems.Respond to emergency calls by CustomerBe safety conscious in all activities, demonstrate a track record of owning problems and promote successful completion of the tasksProvide first-class response to Customer, ensuring as reasonably and practical as possible a first-time right policyHandle set up and calibration of precision automation equipmentCreate strong effective working relationships with Customer and their operational agents to enable Knapp to provide superior serviceAchieve performance in terms of expected output, speed of response, quality of repair and standards of workmanshipTrain customer's maintenance team as requiredMaintain quality of service by ensuring effective communication with customersEnsure that reports are well written and legibleExecute site quality procedures, safety procedures, and any statutory proceduresParticipate in regular meetings to discuss activities and progressProvide specialist maintenance service support to the Customer's installed systemEnsure that all spare parts usage issues are logged appropriately and promptly with the Knapp Spare Parts teamEnsure that proper care and maintenance of the tooling and equipment are providedEnsure that all time sheets and documents are accurate and legible; to be submitted to Knapp on biweekly basis for approvalExperience in mechanical strip-down/re-assembly, basic field wiring, machine calibration and system testingAbility to work against a timeframe to complete reactive repairsInteract with on-site management keeping them informed of repair and maintenance progression and addressing their concerns in a professional mannerShow hands-on ownership of issues to achieve a quick time resolutionAbility to appreciate health & safety considerations with regard to given tasks and to carry out risk assessmentsMechanical aptitude, including the ability to read assembly drawingsAbility to operate hand tools and assemble parts onto equipmentAbility to follow set up instructions, assembly drawings and check listsStrong attention to detail and exceptional follow-up skillsExcellent communication and customer service skills with both internal and external CustomersComputer literate with basic Microsoft Office skillsWillingness to learn and adapt to changing role requirementsAppreciation of cultural diversityPerform all other duties as assignedQualifications:Bachelors degree preferably in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation or related field.3+ years direct experience preferred3+ years demonstrated experience in providing repairs on various types of machinery systems, including electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems including the utilization of 480vac, 240vac, 120vac, and 48vdc, 24vdc, VFDs, and PLCs (Siemens preferred)3+ years experience in equipment maintenance, modifications and design preferredTheoretical and operational experience in the repair, troubleshooting and maintenance of PLC-based machinery, highly automated and robotic equipment and control systemsStrong communication skills both written and verbalExcellent customer service skillsBilingual (English/Spanish) and or (English/German) preferred but not requiredStrong problem-solving capabilitiesProcess-oriented mentalityNetwork equipment interfaces, a plusHands-on experience and a team player committed to improve processesExperience in reducing costs through processes and efficienciesWorking Conditions and Environment:Authorization to work in the U.S.Passport or ability to obtain passportProfessional etiquette is required at all timesTravel required up to 10%Weekends and overtime as required by workPhysical requirements may include sitting, squatting, walking for long distances, reaching out to arm's length, reaching over-head, climbing ladders, climbing stairs, working at heights, lifting up to 100 pounds, and readingBenefits:Industry competitive compensationGreat benefits with better than average employer contributions, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts, Short & Long Term Disability and more!401k with a very generous employer match and no vesting!Paid Vacation & HolidaysProfit SharingPaid Parental LeaveSubsidized DaycareTuition ReimbursementPet InsuranceKNAPP is an equal opportunity employer.
