Installation & Assembly: Install and assemble piping systems including process piping, HVAC piping, plumbing systems, fire protection systems, and industrial piping Measure, cut, thread, groove, bend, and assemble pipes using hand and power tools Install pipe hangers, supports, and anchors to secure piping systems Connect pipes to equipment, fixtures, and other piping using various joining methods (welding, threading, flanging, grooved couplings) Install valves, fittings, and piping specialties per specifications Test piping systems for leaks using air or hydrostatic pressure tests Blueprint Reading & Layout: Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, schematics, and specifications Perform field measurements and layout for piping installations Determine pipe routing and support locations Calculate pipe lengths, angles, and fitting requirements Mark cutting and installation lines on pipes Fabrication: Fabricate pipe sections, fittings, and assemblies in shop or field Cut, thread, groove, and bend pipe to required specifications Weld pipe joints using various welding processes (TIG, MIG, Stick) as certified Modify or custom-fabricate fittings and assemblies as needed System Testing & Startup: Pressure test piping systems to verify integrity Flush and clean piping systems prior to startup Assist with system commissioning and startup activities Make adjustments and repairs as needed during testing Maintenance & Repair: Troubleshoot and repair leaking or damaged piping systems Replace worn or damaged pipe sections, valves, and fittings Perform preventive maintenance on piping systems Respond to emergency repairs as needed Safety & Quality: Follow all safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and company safety policies Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times Maintain clean and organized work areas Ensure all work meets code requirements and quality standards Participate in daily safety meetings (toolbox talks) Report unsafe conditions or hazards immediately Collaboration: Work with other trades (electricians, HVAC technicians, operators) to coordinate installations Communicate with foremen and project managers on progress and issues Mentor and train apprentices and helpers Assist with material takeoffs and ordering as needed Experience & Licensing: 3-5+ years of pipefitting experience in industrial, commercial, or construction settings Journeyman Pipefitter license or equivalent certification (preferred) Apprenticeship completion or equivalent on-the-job training Technical Skills: Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, isometric drawings, and P&IDs Skilled in measuring, cutting, threading, grooving, and bending pipe Experience with various pipe materials: carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, PVC, CPVC, cast iron, ductile iron Knowledge of various joining methods: threading, welding, flanging, grooved couplings, soldering, brazing Familiarity with pipe hangers, supports, and anchoring systems Understanding of piping codes and standards (ASME B31.1, B31.3, local plumbing codes) Welding (if applicable): Welding certifications (TIG, MIG, Stick) for carbon steel and stainless steel (preferred) Ability to pass welding tests as required by project specifications Tools & Equipment: Proficient with hand tools: pipe wrenches, chain wrenches, pipe cutters, threading dies, hacksaws Experience with power tools: band saws, grinders, threading machines, grooving machines, benders Comfortable operating cutting torches and welding equipment Experience with pipe beveling machines, orbital welders, and specialty tools (plus) Physical Requirements: Able to lift and carry 50-75 lbs regularly Able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditions Comfortable climbing ladders, scaffolding, and working on elevated platforms Able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity Other Requirements: Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Own basic hand tools (company provides power tools and specialty equipment) Able to pass background check and drug screening Able to work overtime, nights, weekends as needed Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and safety-first mindset PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Journeyman Pipefitter license or union card Welding certifications (6G TIG/Stick on carbon steel and stainless steel) OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification Experience with industrial process piping (high pressure, high temperature) Experience with specialty piping systems: sanitary, pharmaceutical, cryogenic, high-purity Data center or mission-critical facility experience Forklift and aerial lift certifications Rigging certification Medical gas installer certification (for healthcare projects) Fire sprinkler fitter experience Bilingual (English/Spanish)
