Full Stack EngineerLocation: Brookfield, WisconsinEmployment: Full-Time | Contract-to-HireWork Model: Hybrid / Remote during contract periodTime Zone: US Central Time overlap requiredRole: We are seeking a Full Stack Engineer to build and ship production features end-to-end across frontend, backend, database, APIs, and cloud infrastructure.You will work with a modern TypeScript/AWS stack supporting a HIPAA-compliant, FHIR-native EHR platform. This is a hands-on engineering role where you will own features from development through testing, deployment, and production support.Required Skills5+ years of professional full-stack web development experience.Strong TypeScript and Node.js development experience.Production experience with React; React 19/Vite is preferred.Strong PostgreSQL and SQL skills, including queries, performance troubleshooting, and migrations.Production experience with AWS, particularly Lambda, API Gateway, RDS/Aurora, S3, and CloudWatch.Experience designing and developing REST APIs; understanding of authentication, versioning, resource modeling, and idempotency.2+ years of daily experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent.Experience building and shipping production applications, not just POCs or personal projects.HIPAA/PHI awareness or the ability to quickly learn healthcare compliance requirements.Strong written and verbal English communication skills.Bachelor's degree or equivalent demonstrated engineering experience.Preferred SkillsHealthcare, EHR/EMR, or healthcare integration experience.FHIR R4 experience, including resources, bundles, and search parameters.Hono, tRPC, Drizzle ORM, or comparable modern TypeScript frameworks/tools.AWS CDK, Terraform, Pulumi, or other Infrastructure-as-Code experience.Multi-tenant SaaS and PostgreSQL Row-Level Security.Vitest, Playwright, Testcontainers, or comparable testing frameworks.OpenTelemetry, Sentry, Pino, or comparable observability tools.Open-source contributions, particularly in the TypeScript ecosystem.ResponsibilitiesBuild frontend, backend, database, and API components for end-to-end features.Write production-quality, maintainable TypeScript code.Develop and maintain React applications and Node.js services.Design and optimize PostgreSQL queries and database schemas.Build and integrate REST/FHIR APIs.Write automated integration and application tests.Use AI coding tools effectively as part of the daily development workflow.Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and pair programming.Monitor production systems, troubleshoot issues, and participate in on-call rotation.Follow HIPAA and PHI security requirements.LogisticsBrookfield, Wisconsin; eventual in-office presence is expected.Contract-to-hire candidates may work primarily remotely during the contract period, with transition toward onsite within six months.Must be able to overlap several hours with US Central Time.Occasional travel may be required.Reports to the Lead Product Architect.
