3D Application Engineering Intern

Role: 3D Application Engineering Intern (Scan-to-CAD & Inspection)Location: Remote (US-based)Type: Paid Internship / Co-Op (Flexible Hours)About SKYLAB3D:At SKYLAB3D, we specialize in cutting-edge 3D scanning, reverse engineering, and digital twin technology. We are looking for a motivated candidate to join our engineering workflow and work with state-of-the-art Scan-to-CAD software.What You Will Do:- Process high-density 3D point clouds and mesh data from industrial 3D scanners.- Convert 3D mesh files into fully parametric CAD models (ex. SolidWorks / Geomagic).- Perform dimensional inspection and deviation analysis (CAD-to-Part comparison).- Assist in developing training materials and client demonstration datasets.What We Are Looking For:- Degree or coursework in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, Manufacturing, or related field.- Hands-on experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Fusion 360, or similar).- Exposure to 3D mesh processing or reverse engineering tools is a major plus.- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving mindset.What You Get:- Hands-on experience with industry-standard metrology and reverse engineering software.- Portfolio-ready project deliverables.- Flexible remote work schedule with direct mentorship from senior engineers.- Potential path to a full-time 3D Application Engineer role.
