Specific responsibilities and duties include:
Follow all documented billing policies and procedures ensuring Firm standards and guidelines are met.
Process monthly billing, including specialized and non-standard billing, for selected attorneys and/or client groups and follow Outside Counsel Guidelines when applicable.
Monitor assigned billing attorney’s WIP aging and raise concerns of matters not being timely billed with the Billing Manager.
Review prebills/bills that should be billed electronically. Content should follow specific e-billing guidelines and rules; submit bills through BillBlast or forward to E-Billing Manager for further processing.
Coordinate with E-Billing Manager and assist with appeals if necessary for e-billed matters.
Prepare specialized documents/spreadsheets as requested by billing attorneys and/or clients.
Perform quality checks on client bills prior to posting. Attention to, and knowledge of, bill formats and presentation of paper bills, and negotiated rate agreements such as monthly retainer billing, fixed fee arrangements, and volume discounts.
Work effectively with all members of the Firm to achieve common goals and positive results.
Qualifications:
Associates Degree or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 3+ years of experience with billing, electronic billing, accounting and administration. Law firm or other professional services billing experience is preferred but not required.
Advanced computer skills in time and billing software (CMS), EIS, Adobe and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook and Word).
Ability to work independently and perform well under pressure, multi task daily, and meet all deadlines.
Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with clients, Firm staff and attorneys.
Must have excellent organizational skills and demonstrate accuracy on work performed.
Adapt well to change and new ideas. Willing to take on new responsibilities; take initiative to improve areas of weakness and build on current skills.
Able to thrive in a continuous learning environment.
Hours: Full-time, with flexibility to work additional hours as indicated by client and Firm needs.
Physical and Other Requirements
The work is primarily of an intellectual nature and requires a variety of physical capabilities. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and rarely has to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. This position requires the ability to operate a keyboard at efficient speed. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly to stand, walk, talk and hear. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
