Maintenance MechanicThe Maintenance Mechanic will oversee the performance and maintenance of large production machinery. Responsible for performing mechanical troubleshooting to determine problems on equipment used in the manufacturing process. Dismantles, adjusts, repairs, and assembles equipment. Uses tests and diagnostic equipment to perform checkouts. Receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new assignments. This position will need to troubleshoot and repair equipment under specific time constraints to maintain production schedules.Minimum requirements include:Experience in maintenance in a production environment (food manufacturing preferred)Experience with industrial electricalExperience working with boiler equipmentKnowledge in food processing and/or chemical processing, GMP's, clean design, etc.Familiarity with batch and continuous processing including filtration techniques, extraction and/or product packagingFamiliarity with food safety programs like SQF, Kosher, etc.High school diploma or GEDMust have knowledge of single and three phases electric, AC, DC high and low voltagesAbility to work off shift, and weekends as neededKnowledge of work order system (E-maintenance)Working knowledge of hand tools & power toolsKey duties and responsibilities include:Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines as noted in the equipment manufacturer's guidelinesAble to visually inspect and test machinery to detect equipment malfunctionsThoroughly cleans machines and machine parts, removing parts and reinstalling as necessaryOils and lubricates moving parts on machines to ensure effective performanceRecords and reports damaged, worn, or broken partsOrders and installs replacement parts for machinesIdentify the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machinesRepairs broken machines quickly and efficientlyPrepare reports documenting work performedCleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and suppliesCoordinates with managers to schedule regular maintenance on machinesCollaborates with production manager or plant engineers regarding new products being added and modifications that will be requiredMakes necessary modifications and implements tests runs; confers with production managers regarding test results and makes additional alterations to machinery as requiredInteract with the maintenance and production teams to identify root causes of equipment failures and downtime eventsDiagnose problems and repair defective machines and equipment with new or repaired parts, following the specifications set forth in manuals, schematics, and wiring diagramsPerform root cause analysis, develop recommendations, and implement solutions and procedures for permanent elimination of operational issuesSolving problems related to equipment, tooling, process, & quality, and document problem-solving effortsProvide technical support for raw materials and construction methods associated with all assigned product linesSet up and break down of Food Processing equipment as requiredBuilding maintenance repairs and up-keep (plumbing repairs, blocked drains, changing lamps & ballasts, light remodeling, etc.)Complete other duties as assignedOther functions and responsibilities include:Able to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral formKnow, understand, and comply with the company's safety and health goals and its objectivesAssist the company in achieving goals by participating in the safety programDemonstrate proper operation of equipment and tools as needed to ensure employee safety and compliance of all OSHA guidelinesProvide management with written report of unsafe conditions or unsafe acts as neededReport on all accidents, injuries, or illnesses immediately Perform other duties assignedTroubleshooting: Able to determine causes of operating errors and decide on the most effective and efficient course of action to repairMechanical Ability: Must be able to read and understand all electrical and mechanical schematic and diagramsRepairing: Ability to work on equipment or systems using various types of hand tools, measuring, and testing instruments, etc.Equipment Maintenance: Able to perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment and determine the proper type of corrective maintenance neededTool Use and Organization: Maintain tools and maintenance equipment in working order and maintenance room and work areas in neat conditionPhysical requirements include:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, use ladders, and perform various types of manual laborOccasionally, the employee may be required to lift up to 50 poundsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to hot and cold temperatures and sometimes wet conditionsMon - Fri (4am - 12:30pm) Overtime and occasional weekends
