Field Service Technician

Reporting to the Field Service Manager, the Field Service Engineer will be an integral part of the Field Services team. This team responsible for testing/commissioning, maintenance, retrofit, and brownfield upgrades of low, medium, and high voltage power systems. This is a technical, hands-on role, which requires solving complex problems in both office and field environments. The Field Service Engineer will play a support role to drive growth of the department.This is a permanent full-time position based out of our Houston, TX office and will consist of a blend of office, shop, and field work.RESPONSIBILITIESField Engineering & Technical ExecutionLead execution of projects involving protection system upgrades, relay replacements, and equipment modernizations. Review existing protection schemes and develop relay settings and logic upgrades to meet current standards and customer needsConduct equipment inspections and condition assessments to support asset lifecycle recommendationsCoordinate and oversee shutdowns, ensuring safe and effective execution of outages, energization, and return-to-serviceWork directly with internal engineering teams to create/verify designs, support project delivery, and develop engineering outputs as required, such as detailed drawing packages, BoMs, settings files, technical reports, etc.Prepare detailed field reports, test documentation, redlines, and as-built drawingsWork on high, medium, and low voltage power systems. Performing safe work in utility, industrial, and commercial sectorsOperate various types of electrical test equipment, analyze test data, and compile technical reports for the clients.HVM/LVM (High Voltage Maintenance/Low Voltage Maintenance)PIC of large- and small-scale commissioning jobsMaintain positive client relationships through on-site interactionsCommunicate effectively regarding found issues, project execution, and timelines. Strong verbal and written communication skills requiredEnsure full compliance with the internal and client-specific safety programs and policiesSupporting the training of other Field Service Technicians and EngineersOn-Call support and being part of the on-call rotationRequirementsValid driver’s licenseA minimum of 5 years experience working with medium voltage power systemsMust be willing to travel outside of Houston for fieldwork as requiredConfident working aloneCommunicate effectively regarding found issues, project execution, and timelines. Strong verbal and written communication skills required.Must be a team player, willing to work with others in a fast-paced environmentMust have a proven commitment to safetyStrong understanding of protection / control systems and relay logicWorking experience with various protection relay programming platforms such as SEL, GE Multilin, ABB, Siemens, Basler, etc.Intermediate/advanced computer skillsExcellent working knowledge of the Microsoft office suite of softwareAbility to multi-task, exercise good judgement and prioritize workload
