RWE Americas, LLCTo start as soon as possible, full time, permanentFunctional area: Health, Safety & EnvironmentRemuneration: ExemptThe HSSE Operations & Project Execution Director serves as the primary interface for RWE Americas (RWEA) HSSE Project Execution (Construction), integrating technical best practices, regulatory expectations, emerging industry trends, team development, and relationship management with contractors. The role provides strategic direction, technical leadership, and governance for HSSE across projects throughout North America to ensure safe working conditions, achieve departmental and organizational KPI targets, implement the HSSE management system, maintain full regulatory compliance, protect the environment, and drive a proactive, zero-harm safety culture throughout the project execution lifecycle.Key activities:Supports a team of contract HSSE professionals focused on safe project executionEnsures safe and healthy working conditions and procedures for all colleagues and contractorsAchieves departmental KPIs and targetsImplements HSSE management system, processes, and programs within Project Execution and on construction projectsProtects compliance with environmental requirements at construction projectsEnsures HSSE compliance with legislation & regulation at construction projectsRole Responsibilities: Leads and supports a team of contract HSSE professionals to achieve departmental and Company KPIs and targetsDrives HSSE Project Execution continuous improvementOversees strategy implementation, KPIs, metrics, and targets for HSSE Project ExecutionFosters company's HSSE culture through interactions, communications, and leading by exampleShares progress through daily, weekly, and monthly reporting to team members and HSSE leadership to ensure collaboration across departments and drive safe workImplements HSSE management system, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with company directivesRegularly reviews Operations HSSE metrics and focuses the team on high-risk activities and trendsAdvises and guides operational leadership on the implementation of the HSSE management system, risk identification, and mitigationResponsible for targeted campaigns, programs, and initiatives for Project ExecutionEnsures governance and compliance with the HSSE management system and policiesProvides feedback to HSSE Excellence regarding procedure improvement opportunities/needsCoordinates RCAs, works with HSSE team members to conduct root cause analyses and identify learningsEnsures HSSE training compliance across the businessDevelops and manages HSSE Project Execution Team OKRs, team performance, and rankings Job Requirements and Experiences:A Bachelor's of Science in Safety Management, Environmental, Engineering, Construction, or relevant area of study is requiredA minimum of 11 years of construction safety management experienceRenewables industry experience a plusTeam Leadership: Ability to lead, inspire, manage, and delegate effectively across regionsPeople Development: Ability to develop themselves and their people to their full potentialPerformance Orientation: Self-motivated to drive the business, increase performance, and deliver resultsStrategic thinking: Push boundaries to achieve goals, utilizing resources in a matrix organizationContinuous Improvement: Constantly optimizing the businessIntegration Management: Ability to lead teams through change managementWorking Together: Ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams Communication skills: Ability to effectively communicate internally & externally within the chain of command and within his/her level of authorityOpen mindset: Self-reflective personality, able to learn and act on feedbackHands-on mentality: Actively involving him-/herself, pragmatic and fact-focused attitudeDeep expertise in HSSE and asset-intensive business (Construction)Understanding of regulatory framework in different jurisdictions/marketsUnderstanding of regulatory decision-making proceduresUnderstanding of business model, regulatory, and technical developments as well as potential implicationsOnshore Wind, PV, BESS Construction & Operations understandingFlexibility and willingness to travel extensively domestically as needed to effectively perform the jobLanguages: English mandatory, additional languages an advantageWork Environment:This position is an office-based role with significant travel and visits to field construction locations.
