THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON CONTRACT AWARD Position Summary- Remote We are seeking a GNC Engineer to support the design, development, testing, and real-time operation of advanced aerospace systems. This role bridges engineering development and flight/operational execution, requiring strong technical depth, sound judgment under pressure, and the ability to translate complex system behavior into actionable decisions. The ideal candidate brings experience across flight dynamics, control systems, software interaction, and operational environments. This is a remote position with limited, business-need driven travel to onsite locations. Key ResponsibilitiesGNC System Development & IntegrationSupport design, analysis, and verification of guidance, navigation, and control algorithms and architectureReview and guide flight software design to improve system performance, robustness, and operabilityEvaluate system behavior across full mission phases (e.g., ascent, on-orbit, entry, proximity operations)Operational Readiness & Real-Time SupportDevelop and execute operational concepts for GNC systems in mission or test environmentsMonitor vehicle performance and make time-critical recommendations during dynamic operationsSupport anomaly resolution, fault response strategies, and contingency planningRequirements, Tools & ProceduresDefine system and console requirements for monitoring and commanding GNC subsystemsDevelop operator displays, telemetry utilization strategies, and command interfacesMaintain flight rules, procedures, and operational documentationTesting & ValidationSupport system-level testing (integrated labs, simulations, hardware-in-the-loop environments)Participate in verification of telemetry, command pathways, and system responsesContribute to development and validation of contingency commanding capabilities Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred) and 10+ years of experienceStrong foundation in:Orbital mechanics / astrodynamicsControl systems and state estimationGuidance algorithms and vehicle dynamicsExperience working with:Flight software or embedded systemsReal-time or near-real-time operational environmentsTelemetry analysis and command/response systemsDemonstrated ability to:Operate effectively under pressure and make timely, sound decisionsCommunicate complex technical issues clearly and conciselyWork across multidisciplinary teamsMust be a U.S Citizen Preferred QualificationsTS/SCI ClearanceExperience supporting mission operations or system operations in a control center or similar environmentBackground in anomaly resolution, fault detection/isolation/recovery (FDIR), and contingency operationsFamiliarity with simulation environments, integrated test labs, or hardware/software validationExperience developing procedures, flight rules, or operator toolsPrior experience training or certifying personnel in technical or operational roles What Sets a Strong Candidate ApartDemonstrated ownership of end-to-end GNC capabilities (not just analysis, but how the system is used)Ability to connect engineering design decisions to real-world operational impactsProven performance in high-stakes, time-critical environmentsStrong judgment, accountability, and credibility with both engineers and operatorsComfort operating in "gray space" where processes aren't fully defined Basic Compensation: Jobs on this contract range from $133,900 - $200,800. The offered rate will be based on the position, contract affordability, the selected candidate's working location, knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and in consideration of internal parity. Additional Compensation:KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
