This role provides day‑to‑day leadership to grinding operators, coordinates workflow, and ensures adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements. The Grinder Lead serves as a technical resource and first‑level escalation point, supporting continuous improvement, operator training, and consistent execution of standard work.Duties And ResponsibilitiesLead daily grinding operations to meet production, quality, and safety targets.Assign work, set priorities, and coordinate workflow for grinding operators.Monitor production output, cycle times, and scrap; take corrective actions as needed.Ensure adherence to safety procedures, work instructions, and quality standards.Perform or support setup, changeovers, and troubleshooting of grinding equipment.Inspect finished parts to verify dimensional accuracy and surface finish requirements.Serve as first point of escalation for equipment issues, quality concerns, or production delays.Train and coach operators on proper grinding techniques, equipment use, and standard work.Maintain accurate production, quality, and downtime records.Support continuous improvement initiatives related to efficiency, quality, and workplace organization.Other DutiesPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.Knowledge, Skills, ExperienceMinimum QualificationsExperience operating grinding equipment in a manufacturing or machining environment.Working knowledge of grinding processes, tooling, and measurement techniques.Ability to read and interpret work instructions, drawings, and specifications.Proven ability to lead or coordinate work in a production environment.Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and problem‑solving skills.Preferred QualificationsPrior experience in a lead, trainer, or senior operator role.Experience with precision grinding, CNC grinding, or tight‑tolerance manufacturing.Familiarity with quality systems, inspections, and nonconformance resolution.Demonstrated success improving productivity, quality, or operator performance.Education, Certifications, RequirementsMinimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.Preferred QualificationsTechnical training or coursework in machining, manufacturing, or related disciplines.Certifications or formal training related to machining, grinding, or equipment operation.Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement training.Ultra Clean Technology is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer.
