FMF Assistant Manager

FMF Assistant ManagerThe FMF Assistant Manager is responsible for supporting the FMF Manager in leading daily department execution, supervisor follow-up, schedule recovery, production control, and floor accountability. This role helps translate department priorities into clear daily direction, ensures supervisors are actively managing their assigned areas, and drives follow-through on safety, quality, delivery, cost, and 5S expectations. The FMF Assistant Manager works closely with the FMF Manager, supervisors, programmers, technical support personnel, quality, planning, and other production departments to maintain schedule discipline, identify constraints early, and support stable execution. This position is expected to be a visible floor leader who reinforces standards, escalates issues quickly, and helps build stronger leadership discipline across FMF.Scope and Responsibilities:Actively supports a safe and healthy work environment for self and othersSupport the FMF Manager in daily department leadership, production execution, and schedule recoveryProvide daily direction and follow-up to FMF supervisors to ensure priorities are understood and executedMonitor production status, schedule misses, aging work, bottlenecks, and recovery actionsEnsure supervisors are actively managing their areas, communicating constraints, and following up on open itemsHelp lead daily huddles, production reviews, and shift handoff communicationPartner with the FMF Manager to align manpower, priorities, overtime needs, and recovery plansReinforce department standards for safety, quality, 5S, attendance, productivity, and accountabilityEscalate abnormal conditions early, including schedule risk, quality issues, tooling concerns, missing parts, programming delays, and labor constraintsSupport coaching, development, and accountability of supervisors and team leads as directed by the FMF ManagerWork with programmers, technical support, planning, quality, and production teams to remove roadblocks and keep work movingHelp ensure late work has a clear owner, next step, and follow-up dateReview department performance data and assist with action plans to improve executionSupport continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen safety, quality, delivery, cost, and department stabilityMaintain professional communication with employees, supervisors, managers, and cross-functional teamsEducation/Certification:High School diploma or equivalent requiredAssociate degree or technical certificate in manufacturing, machining, operations, engineering technology, or related field preferred5+ years of manufacturing, machining, production, or operations experience preferredPrevious supervisory or leadership experience requiredLean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or formal leadership training preferredForklift / overhead crane certification preferred if applicable to the area, or ability to obtainSkills:Strong manufacturing leadership experience with the ability to manage supervisors, priorities, and daily floor executionStrong understanding of machining, fabrication, production flow, scheduling, or related manufacturing processes preferredAbility to lead through accountability, communication, urgency, and consistent follow-upStrong problem-solving ability with the discipline to identify issues early and drive corrective actionAbility to read and understand production schedules, work status reports, priorities, and recovery plansComfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with changing prioritiesStrong communication skills with the ability to work across production, programming, quality, planning, and leadership teamsAbility to coach supervisors and reinforce expectations without avoiding difficult conversationsStrong organization skills and ability to manage multiple open items at the same timeMicrosoft Office Suite experience required; D365 experience preferredStrong reliability, accountability, and ability to lead by exampleEqual Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities
