Network Operations Center Support Engineer

The Planet Group has partnered with a Boston area company to locate a Network Operations Center Support Engineer (NOC) for a contract-to-hire role. This is a hybrid role and candidates must be willing to be onsite three (3) days a week in the Boston area. No sponsorship or C2C is available for this role due to the nature of it being contract-to-hire . Job Description The successful candidate will focus on real-time monitoring of systems, responding to alerts, and triaging incidents in a fast-paced operations environment. This role is part of a Network Operations team responsible for maintaining system uptime and quickly escalating issues to engineering teams when needed. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response, and who is comfortable working within a structured operations and support environment. Key Responsibilities Monitor network, server, and application performance to ensure system reliability and uptime. Manage monitoring and alerting platforms to maintain visibility into infrastructure and services. Respond to system alerts and incidents, performing initial troubleshooting and escalation as needed. Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and reliability teams to resolve technical issues. Perform routine health checks and maintenance activities to ensure optimal network performance. Analyze monitoring data to identify system bottlenecks, performance degradation, or potential outages. Provide timely communication and updates during incident response situations. Document incidents, troubleshooting steps, and maintenance activities for operational transparency. Participate in root cause analysis efforts to prevent recurring issues. Support continuous improvement of monitoring processes and operational workflows. Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation as part of the operations team. Required Qualifications 3+ years of experience in network operations, infrastructure support, or systems operations. Hands-on experience with monitoring or observability platforms such as Dynatrace, Datadog, or Splunk. Experience working with incident management and alerting tools such as PagerDuty or OpsGenie. Solid understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN technologies. Experience supporting production environments and troubleshooting infrastructure or system alerts. Basic scripting or automation experience using PowerShell or Python. Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work in high-availability environments. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with SIEM platforms or security monitoring tools. Exposure to Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
