We seek talented and innovative professionals who have a commitment to excellence and passion for our mission.Position SummaryPresentation High School in San Jose, California, is seeking a Religious Studies Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. This teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging, rigorous, and developmentally appropriate instruction in Religious Studies (as outlined in the Religious Studies Course Catalog). The ideal candidate will be a practicing Roman Catholic with a strong foundation in Catholic theology and a commitment to fostering students’ academic and spiritual growth.We are looking for an experienced, innovative teacher who is eager to develop classrooms of belonging where students are ready to take intellectual risks and put their learning into action in the “real” world.Duties And Specific ResponsibilitiesTeach assigned Religious Studies courses, potentially including The Church, Moral Theology, and other department offerings.Demonstrate subject matter competency and the ability to communicate theological concepts to high school students.Devise and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning, promoting respect and order.Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and assessments aligned with course objectives and student needs.Design and deliver curriculum using up-to-date pedagogical approaches, including Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to support diverse learning needs, and culturally responsive teaching practices that honor and reflect the identities and lived experiences of all students.Provide appropriate support and availability to students outside of class time.Utilize Schoology (LMS) to distribute course materials and assignments, and PowerSchool (SIS) to grade and maintain an up-to-date gradebook.Communicate effectively with students and parents to support academic success and engagement.Collaborate with departmental colleagues and school leadership to ensure curricular alignment and academic excellence.Participate in professional development activities related to subject matter, pedagogy, and educational technology.Exercise professionalism in communication with students, parents, and colleagues.Other duties as assigned.RequirementsEducation & ExperienceRequiredMaster’s Degree or Catechetical Certification with coursework in Theology, Spirituality, or Religious EducationPracticing Roman Catholic with a strong foundation in Catholic theologyPreferredPrevious high school teaching experienceExperience integrating educational technology in classroom instructionKnowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesTotal resonance with the mission, vision, and values of Presentation High School and the Catholic educational tradition, including a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusionStrong interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication skillsCommitment to ongoing professional growthAbility to inspire and engage adolescent learners in a faith-based academic environmentCommitment to MissionPresentation High School welcomes employees of all faith backgrounds who are committed to our mission of educating young women in the Presentation tradition.
