As a Crew Member (Asphalt) in the Transportation Department, you'll be responsible for essential tasks that keep our streets safe and accessible year-round. Primary duties include, but are not limited to:• Operating job-specific equipment, such as single axle and tandem axle dump trucks,• Laying asphalt and pouring concrete,• Shoveling, raking, and luting asphalt,• Driving a truck and operating equipment during the snow and ice removal program.This position requires working in and around traffic and heavy equipment. The selected applicant must possess the ability to follow verbal and written instructions. The City of Greensboro pays employees bi-weekly, and the position is assigned to a 40-hour work schedule, which is typically Monday through Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch. This schedule is subject to change during a holiday week or for emergency service which may require working a flexible schedule with little or no notice and may include weekends, nights, or holidays.This employee will be assigned to the snow and ice removal program and will be subject to working 12-hour shifts during winter or other weather-related events. This employee must have good attendance. The physical requirements duties include: standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, walking on uneven surfaces, shoveling, and heavy lifting up to (50 pounds). Work is performed outside in all weather conditions.
