IT Asset Management Specialist

Key Responsibilities:Maintain accurate, centralized inventory of IT assets including endpoints, peripherals, hardware, software, and cloud resources.Tag assets properly and associate them with owners, locations, cost centers, and lifecycle status.Process full asset lifecycle events such as requests, procurement, receipt, deployment, moves/changes, returns, and disposal using ITAM/ITSM tools.Support hardware refresh, replacement, and disposal programs while ensuring compliance with data-wipe and environmental policies.Track software license entitlements, allocations, and usage against deployments.Identify under-utilized, unused, or over-allocated licenses and propose reclamation or optimization actions.Prepare data and summaries for renewals, true-ups, and vendor negotiations.Coordinate with Procurement, Finance, and Security on new software onboarding and standardization.Plan and conduct periodic IT asset audits for hardware, software, and cloud, including physical inventories and tool-based reconciliations.Reconcile inventory with purchase data, system discovery, and physical checks to resolve gaps.Document audit findings, track remediation, and improve controls to prevent issues.Handle IT asset-related tickets like new hire kits, swaps, returns, access, and software requests while enforcing standards.Partner with service desk and endpoint teams to streamline asset workflows and documentation.Produce reports and dashboards on inventory accuracy, asset utilization, compliance, and savings opportunities.Maintain and update ITAM process documentation, SOPs, and knowledge articles.Requirements (Technical, Functional, and Behavioral Skills):3+ years in IT Asset Management, IT Operations, or related roles.Hands-on experience with ITAM/ITSM tools such as ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, Ivanti, Flexera, or similar.Solid understanding of IT hardware and software lifecycle processes from request to retire.Familiarity with software licensing models including per-device, per-user, subscription, and SaaS.Strong analytical skills and attention to detail for reconciling data from multiple systems.Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders in IT, Finance, Security, and Procurement.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Preferred Skills:Experience supporting IT asset or software license audits.Exposure to endpoint management or discovery tools such as Intune, Jamf, SCCM, or Tanium.Background in mid-to-large enterprise environments.Knowledge of ITIL/ITSM and ITAM best practices; certifications like ITIL, CSAM, CAMP, or CITAM are a plus.
