Category ManagerPosition OverviewWe are a global manufacturing, packaging, logistics, and supply chain solutions company committed to delivering innovative, sustainable, and cost-efficient products to customers across diverse industries. As part of our continued growth and focus on responsible sourcing, the Category Manager for Lumber & Plywood will lead strategic procurement efforts across the Americas. This role is instrumental in shaping our wood-materials supply strategy, ensuring high quality, competitive pricing, reliable supply, and alignment with our sustainability and environmental-impact goals.Key Responsibilities-Develop and execute category strategies for lumber and plywood that support operational goals, sustainability commitments, and long-term business growth.-Select, build, and manage strong supplier partnerships to ensure reliable delivery, consistent quality, and alignment with responsible forestry and ethical sourcing standards.-Analyze market data, price forecasts, and global wood-product trends to anticipate supply shifts and inform purchasing decisions.-Negotiate optimal pricing, terms, and supply agreements that balance cost, quality, risk, and service.-Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, engineering, sales, and finance teams to ensure procurement strategies align with regional and organizational objectives.-Monitor supplier performance, conducting audits, capability assessments, and corrective actions as needed to maintain excellence in quality, sustainability, and on-time delivery.-Identify and execute cost-saving and process-improvement initiatives, including value engineering and alternative material evaluations.-Lead risk-management planning to mitigate disruptions related to supply chain volatility, regulatory changes, or geopolitical factors.-Provide ongoing market intelligence to internal teams, supporting strategic decisions and customer-facing discussions.-Drive continuous improvement in category performance, supporting KPI development, budget planning, and project execution at both regional and site levels.Qualifications-Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business/Finance or related -Minimum 5 years of experience in lumber, plywood, or wood-products procurement, with an established network of suppliers across the Americas.-Strong negotiation and contract-management capabilities with experience navigating volatile commodity markets.-Proficient analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data, evaluate cost structures, and make informed purchasing decisions.-Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.-Commitment to sustainable sourcing, responsible forestry practices, and continuous environmental improvement within the supply chain.
