Teacher Aide- Special Education Cross CategoricalProper Certification Required 2026-2027 School YearQualifications: High School Diploma and Paraprofessional Certification; thirty (30) semester hours of college credit preferredReports to: Building AdministratorsEvaluation: As per association agreementWork Calendar: Full-Time, 176 work days or as per association agreementPosition Goal: To assist the classroom teacher in providing a well-organized, efficient, and highly functioning class environment which enhances the instructional program and uses multiple resource materialsRate of Pay/Benefits: See attached salary schedule per the negotiated agreement. The position includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance benefitsThe Teacher Aide shall be responsible for the following duties and perform other duties that may be assigned by the teacher or building administrator:Observe and adhere to all Board of Education policies and regulations, and all administrative rules and proceduresFollow all directives of the classroom teacherAdminister and record achievement and tests scores for individual studentsWork with individual students or in small group settings to reinforce lesson materials and skillsCollaborate with the teacher to plan and design specific strategies to reinforce the lesson materials and skills recognizing the individual student's needs, interest and abilitiesOperate and maintain the classroom equipment used for instructional purposesDistribute and collect workbooks, papers, and other instructional materialsProvide guidance for independent study, enrichment and remedial work for students as determined by the teacherAssist with large group activities such as drill work, reading aloud and storytellingRead to students, listen to students read and participate in all forms of oral communication relative to reading and speechProvide assistance to students in the Library Media CenterCheck notebooks, make-up work, correct papers and supervise testing as neededProvide all relevant classroom teaching information to the substitute teacherParticipate in student conferences with parents and staff when appropriateMaintain control and provide discipline that is consistent with the practices of the classroom teacher in the absence of the teacherSupervise students during lunch, bus duty, recess, field trips and other related activities as neededExhibit confidentiality in relation to students, parents and facultyDevelop open, effective and positive communication with parentsDevelop a positive working relationship with administration, staff, students and parentsAssume responsibility for personal and professional growth and development by attending meetings, workshops, conferences and continuing education classes as related to classroom teachingBe knowledgeable of and adhere to the District Safety Plan
