Senior Accountant
As an essential member of the accounting team, you will be responsible for performing the day-to-day accounting activities, such as cash accounting, account reconciliations, and both financial and management reporting. You will be responsible for preparing complex financial reports, developing policies and procedures, initiating process improvements, and maintaining effective internal controls. The Senior Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in the implementation and maintenance of Brightline’s accounting methodologies, strategies, compliance, and other required processes such as the development of controls and the implementation of accounting and finance-related systems.Your RoleOwn key areas of the monthly financial accounting close processes, including preparing/recording journal entries and performing/reviewing account reconciliationsAs part of the accounting close process, prepare variance analyses that identify key drivers for monthly fluxes and ensure costs are recognized/allocated to the right departmentsRecord and reconcile intercompany transactions, ensuring proper eliminations and preparing analyses of changes in balancesEnsure the integrity and timeliness of accounting information, as well as recognition, in accordance with US GAAPAssist with audits, including preparing PBC requests (e.g., roll forwards) and serving as a liaison to external auditorsUpload transactions from sub-ledgers and other systems (e.g., Point-of-Sale/Inventory management and employee expense reporting) and data reconciliationsAssist with the preparation of financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, including tie-outs to supporting schedules and other documentationContribute to the ongoing continuous improvement of accounting systems and business processes to increase efficiencies and shorten the closing cycleCollaborate across departments to support financial reporting and business initiativesAssist with special projects as requestedHold confidential and/or proprietary information in strict confidencePlease note that this Job Description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the teammate for this job. Experience & QualificationsRequired Education and Experience:Minimum 4+ years of professional experience in a corporate accounting role preferably in a consumer products, transportation or hospitality industry Public and private experience preferred Must have current or recent experience with managing monthly financial accounting close processes (e.g., prepaids and accruals) including:preparing/recording journal entriesperforming/reviewing account reconciliations preparing variance analyses Experience working with auditors and preparing audit requests (e.g., roll forwards)Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting Knowledge Skills & AbilitiesAbility to work in a fast-paced start-up environment Highly ethical with the ability to work cooperatively with other departments without compromising internal controlsA high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel Experience in data analytics and reporting Experience with NetSuite ERP preferred Combine your experience, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit by joining our team.
