ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Will fabricate new jigs, fixtures, gauges, wax molds and miscellaneous tooling as required to produce the customer product.Use of precision measuring equipment (height gage, jo blocks, dial indicators, micrometers, comparator, angle and sine plates, etc.) to insure tooling is within specified tolerances.Will use knowledge of the tool and die trade to perform the necessary functions to make and/or repair tooling using, at times, only verbal instructions, rough sketches, photos or a minimum amount of detailed drawings.Set-up and operate of various machine tools, such as mills, lathes, surface grinders, drill presses, power saws and electrical discharge machines. CNC machine usage as training permits.Work closely with engineering personnel to evaluate and offer solutions to tool development using past experience and knowledge of the trade resulting in improvement of such factors as life, quality and function.General knowledge of tool material properties including machining, heat treatment, welding and brazing, finishes and surface protection.Set-up and operate, as required, a production machine to machine, grind or process as required production or pre-production parts as instructed by the supervisor.Completes a material card for each tool made.Keep work bench, tool room and machines clean and orderly.QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
