Senior Air Quality Consultant - Boston, MA (Hybrid)
The Opportunity
Tetra Tech is adding a Senior Air Quality Consultant with deep expertise in air quality permitting, regulatory strategy, and industrial process optimization to support and grow our global air quality and sustainability practice.
This role is a key leadership position responsible for driving business growth, leading technical teams, and delivering high-value solutions to commercial, industrial, and energy sector clients.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in expanding Tetra Tech’s air quality capabilities and integrating services across our multidisciplinary platform.
Essential Job Functions
Strategic Leadership & Practice Growth
Provide senior leadership to advance Tetra Tech’s air quality and sustainability practice
Develop and implement business strategies, market positioning, and growth initiatives
Integrate air quality services across Tetra Tech’s global operations and client portfolio
Identify and develop cross-disciplinary solutions leveraging Tetra Tech’s full service capabilities
Business Development & Client Leadership
Serve as Senior Account Lead for key strategic clients
Build and maintain long‑term client relationships across industrial, energy, financial, and private equity sectors
Lead opportunity capture planning, including RFP strategy, proposal development, and contract negotiations
Participate in and support the Key Account Management Program to expand account value and market share
Represent Tetra Tech at industry events and sustainability forums
Technical & Project Leadership
Lead and oversee air quality advisory and permitting projects, including PSD and Title V permitting
Provide technical direction for complex, multi‑disciplinary projects
Ensure project delivery aligns with Tetra Tech’s quality, financial, and performance standards
Support development of regulatory strategies and compliance solutions for clients
Team Leadership & Development
Build, lead, and mentor a team of air quality and sustainability professionals
Support recruitment and development of key technical talent
Delegate responsibilities effectively to support team growth and operational efficiency
Promote a culture of collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement
Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
Additional duties as required.
Required Qualifications
B.S. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field
15 years of experience in air quality and sustainability, ideally within the energy sector
Expertise in PSD and Title V air permitting
Expertise in Industrial air quality compliance and regulatory frameworks
Strong understanding of Market trends, client needs, and competitive landscape
Strong understanding of Business development and capture strategies
Proven experience in Program and operational leadership
Managing and growing client accounts
Leading multidisciplinary teams
Demonstrated success managing project and group financial performance
Established industry network and client relationships
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record without restrictions.
Work Environment / Travel
Flexible location with regular travel to support client engagement and internal collaboration
Participation in industry events, client meetings, and strategic planning sessions

Compensation
Pay commensurate with experience.
Pay Range: $135,000-$180,000 annually
Pay Range – There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
