Position Type:Elementary, Middle & Early Childhood Teaching/Special Education TeacherDate Posted:4/29/2026Location:Charlestown Primary SchoolDate Available:Fall 2026Closing Date:Open until filledFALL MOUNTAIN REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICTPosition Title: Special Education TeacherTerms of Employment: 189 days per year.Qualifications:Meets all qualifications and behavior standards as set by the State of New HampshireThe minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or universityA valid New Hampshire Teacher Certificate OR statement of eligibility with appropriate endorsementProfessional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and/or student teaching experienceAbility to work collaboratively to achieve the overall purposes of the school programReports to: Principal and Director of Special EducationSupervises: ParaprofessionalsEvaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Agreement between the FMRSD and the Fall Mountain Teachers Association, Inc.Job Goal: To provide opportunities for students to fulfill their potential for academic, artistic, athletic and social growth.Performance Responsibilities:Support the regular educator by modifying curriculum for students eligible for special education.Work to ensure the rights of students with disabilities to be full participants in the general curriculum.Implement state and federal laws and regulations as they apply to special education.Participate in the development of and oversee implementation of IEPs for students eligible for special education.Incorporate the New Hampshire Frameworks and Grade Level Expectations into student's IEPClearly communicate the learning objective and the importance of the learning to all studentsUtilizes research based teaching strategies and programsSupervise and support paraprofessionals as they implement instruction.Provide direct instruction to 1 to 1 paraprofessionalsDevelop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.Translate lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a supportive learning environment in the classroomEvaluate and maintain data on students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reportsCommunicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student's progress and interpret the school programIdentify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problemProvide case management of IEP studentsResponsible for contact with parents and quarterly progress reportsConsult with classroom teachers on a regular basisWork to improve student performance and support the district goal of improving standardized testing results by 5-7 percentage points each yearIntegrate the use of technology into the curriculum for all studentsFall Mountain Regional School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer
